Lately it's been Neshaminy Creek, the shape of hops to come. Thanks to purple Patrick who turned me on to it. As for fireball, to make a long story short, I'm no longer allowed to drink it or anything with fireball in it. My wife the DD was not thrilled with me, my brother, or my 2 cousins actions. Lol I just reminded her and it's still a sore subject 2 years later

Add another agency to the list in banning these garbage holsters. http://soldiersystems.net/2017/06/23/lapd-bans-use-of-blackhawk-serpa-holster/

Ive seen them lockup with minor everyday debri to the point we had to cut the holster off with a dremel to get the gun out. Thats a life/death issue for me. I highly discourage them also. There are better options. Normal People/LEO/Military dont really know any better

Such peer pressure! I have been so busy with work... but much thanks (again) to Griz, at least some likes/dislikes/neutral issues have materialized. I can see there's no substitute for actually SHOOTING the guns --- I have learned some things that really surprised me: I have no strong preference re: metal vs. polymer (my initial preconceived bias was "A plastic gun??!! Ick! Are you freakin' kidding me?!" But, the polymer guns don't necessarily feel "cheap" as I thought they would. It's just a different material, that's all). I also have no preference re: semi-auto vs. revolver either (I initially thought revolvers were, frankly, kinda fuddy-duddy (sorry, revolver fans)... but now, I've come around. I actually appreciate their ease of use & simple functional design. They are an option). For me, the YUGE, looming issue is the fit of the grip in my hand. As long as I feel like my small, relatively weak hands have a good grip on the gun... all other factors fade into irrelevance. That has quickly narrowed the field to single-stack semi-autos (and if they're compact, I want the extended magazine so my pinky finger is not dangling) -or- smallish revolvers. Some options I still want to compare/contrast are: S&W K frame 357 revolver w/4 in barrel Glock 43 M&P Shield (unfortunately, due to work schedule this week, I probably won't have my decision nailed down before the $75 rebate runs out on the 30th. Oh, well!) single-stack 1911 (btw, aesthetically, this is my hands-down fav --- LOVE the classic look (equal parts elegant and badass) and the nice, weighty feel of it... but price-wise, it may be a little too rich for my wallet). Unlike some of you who buy and buy and buy (not that there's anything wrong with that, lol!)... this next purchase is likely the last I'll make for awhile, so I'm taking my time. But, I sincerely apologize for not moving at your desired speed. I do promise that you'll be the first to know of my purchase!

If you have a nj fid card. You can have your shotgun sitting next to you in the passengers seat uncased and the ammo next to it. Its your discretion how much you want to hide it. Pistols are the ones you have to be worried about. Hide em lock em up If you buy long rifle ammo. You do not need to lock em up or hide them. The only ammo you need to be weary with is anything hollow point.

Most cops should never be the measure of what gear to buy. Love this video.

Ray, two things: First - you are looking at this from the wrong angle. Training with this piece of shit holster is what brought these deficiencies to light. It was realistic training that made people realize that the mechanism is flimsy and prone to breakage. That the placement of the release is not ideal and actually sets you up for failure when under stress. That the screws holding the holster to the belt attachment can rip out of the plastic with moderate force. That snow, mud, sand, dirt, gravel, etc.. can lock these holsters up so bad you need tin snips to cut the holster away. That getting your pistol hung up on your seat belt as you get out of your car and snap the hinge pin to the retention mechanism making it impossible to get you gun out of your holster. Seriously How is wearing a seat belt misuse or abuse? When a US military unit has a TTP of one guy has to carry a mallet to "un-stick" their Berettas from their SERPAs because they are getting fouled in the environment they operate in, that is a problem that training can only identify. Training will not help you overcome that deficiency. There are dozens of quality holsters out there at a similar price, why settle for mediocrity bordering on a safety violation? Like it or not, a holster is life saving gear for those of us that carry a gun. I bet you wear a seat belt when you drive right? Why don't you just train to drive better and not wear it? Second - There is a real and distinct difference between unsafe and dangerous. The level of danger is inherent in whatever activity you are doing. The safety factor is based on the choices you make while participating in these activities. For example, rock climbing, shooting sports, motorcycle racing are all inherently dangerous activities. The choices you make: deciding to using a rope, buying a quality holster to carry your gun, wearing a DOT certified helmet, all help to make these dangerous activities safer. Why purposefully choose to use a piece of gear that is proven to fail with relatively low levels of use when there are so many better options out there? The only reason these holsters are still made is because people are cheap, and so are the SERPAs. Because someone will go out and drop $1500 on the newest blaster and then carry it in a cheaply made garbage $15 holster. I particularly blame cops for this. The only thing cheaper than a cop is two cops. The only thing cheaper than that is a Police Administrator. People see cops carrying these holsters and think, hmm, the cops have them they must be good. They most deifinitely are not good...

That is a valid point. But if you were about to become Bubba's new girlfriend, you would take the pardon too. Although not the answer to our problem, the pardons are a good thing overall.

Banning something because you think it's dangerous, this list is endless. Train with it, and you'll be fine.

10 days ago I landed in Salt Lake City at 2am. We picked up the rental Suburban, and the Hertz employees were going home. The next day in the light, we noticed an 18 inch long scratch, through the maroon paint into the bright yellow plastic in the bumper. Even had I noticed 7 hours prior there would have been no one to tell. The girl handed me the keys, grabbed her bag and left. I stopped at the walmart in Cody wy, picked up a pack of crayons and blended a nice purple crayon into the scratch and it matched almost perfectly. I opted for the 24 colors, I didn't want to cheap out Turned it in an hour ago, no one noticed. This has been a public service announcement.

Yes Ray, all those things you listed have been criticized. However the issues with the Serpa can't really be addressed by training effectively. All the training in the world is not going to fix failure of the release mechanism preventing you from getting your gun out of the holster. Training to push the release, get your finger off the release and away from the holster when your gun comes out is too much of a motor skill to waste training time on. Use a open top, thumb break, or retention strap holster and the problem goes away. Easier fix.

I would take the pardon too. I wouldn't want to be locked up in a building for years. I don't think Bubba would be a problem. Not that I'm any tougher than any other 210 lb 53 year old guy but I'm no Brad Pitt, and I have a skinny azz, He'd find a much easier, better looking mark with a new younger guy with no grey hair. ( I hope) LOL

I've only seen it on that Soldier Systems article... so, until I see them confirm their source, I'll chalk it up to BS. If you are the commanding officer for a part of such a large organization, that is head of training... I'd think you'd put the correct Bureau on the "memo" that is to be distributed to roughy 10,000 sworn members.

Hey all, Brought it to Gun For Hire in Woodland Park and the gentleman there had me back up and running in 10 min no charge. No wonder this is may favorite range. So professional and so friendly! Thanks for the help all

A pardon is the fastest way to make the problem go away and take the spotlight of of NJ's unconstitutional gun laws. If you have many political victims in jail it shines a light on the problem.

Just FYI, the pro-2A folks suffered a disappointment here in FL... As you may recall, we had the "Docs vs. Glocks" law, which prohibited docs from asking if patients (and, especially, the parents of pediatric patients), if they were firearms owners. One of the appellate courts overturned the law, and AG Pam Bondi simply let the appeal period expire without challenging it. Therefore, docs in FL can continue to ask... a victory for the anti pediatrician docs who were the force behind striking down the law. Take care, as there are a lot of ways docs can trick you into responding to the question.

Good point. Not that I ever owned any 30 rounders not blocked, but I certainly won't block any Argentine FN-49 Mags if I happen to get more. The way I see it is I paid extra for 15 round mags. I accepted it because I never knew anything else. I'll be damned if I'm going to spend more money to make them 10 rounds. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

They usually are off... I run them if I want to run a light, as I rather be able to use regular Government model holsters instead of doing a custom or universal holster for a SR1911 with a Novak rail. Sorry if something I paid for bothers you. [emoji6]

Recently came upon this: "Paranoid is a person who knows much more than you do." Back to the OP - I didn't know that NYT played such a sinister role. They certainly knew what they're doing. Not that I expect FBI to do anything about that.

Here's breakfast. 4 eggs over easy and two big, awesome pancakes (waffles work in a pinch). Put the eggs between the pancakes with an appropriate amount of butter and good dark maple syrup not that aunt jemima shit. Saw through that nothing better than sweet and salty. OP knows more about cereal than anyone I've ever seen--unbelievable detail. Sorry they effed over your food.

Rob, To touch on your point: Currently under HR 218/LEOSA any sworn LEO in good standing can carry a handgun off duty in all 50 states. However, we still have to abide by the states magazine capacity laws. When the act was originally passed any ammunition restrictions had to be followed as well - for example a Cop from TX could not carry hollow points and had to restrict his gun to a 15 round mag when coming to NJ. The last update eliminated any ammo restrictions (as long as long as the ammo was what your dept issued/mandated - This change was due to insurance issues of all things, not the lawmakers getting smart about ammo choices) but did nothing to address any magazine restrictions. So currently, yes, even though I basically have "national reciprocity" I have to be aware of magazine capacity restriction whenever I travel to make sure I am not in violation. I can only carry 10 round mags when I go to NY, CT, MA, DC, MD, or HI. I don't see this changing anytime soon either.

Puppy - The brass is normal especially IIRC because your revolver has a semi rough textured finish. Hoppes will take it right off. Flame thrower concerns me. Excessive cylinder gap or timing. You can check cylinder gap with a feeler gauge but timing you need a range rod which you don't have. Let's see what the big guys say. ^^^ True , true , true Buy a GLOCK Perfection
