A guy was shooting one off at cherry ridge a while back, granted it was pretty empty that day and he picked an end slot... Well of course i made my way over to watch him shoot it off, the muzzle blast is NO JOKE. I was standing to the side and back about 10 feet( I was standing in the drive way) and still got hit with it in a way I was not expecting. Powerful is an understatement, that round is a beast.

As said above, marks may be under the forearm. Remove it carefully to prevent damage but it should just pull off. If the retainer is rusted, it may fight. I have had to drill out the rivets in the forearm before. Your gun looks like thousands of others that weren't made by almost unknown makers. Imported from all over the world and re-branded for whatever company was selling them. You can't always get info on these guns. And what we call damascus barrels really isn't damascus steel. Real damascus steel is made in very thin layers by folding steel over and over again in the forge. This was done to incorporate carbon from the fire into the steel and strengthen the steel. It's often used in decorative blades because if you polish it, you can see the layers. What we call damascus barrels are really just an old way of making barrels by rolling a flat steel bar around a mandrel. The helical steel was then welded together by heating it in a forge. The seams aren't strong enough for modern ammo and rust can get into those seams making them even weaker. I mention this because if you're looking for the wavy pattern of damascus steel, you wont' see it. You may be able to see the spiral seam that runs down the barrel.

It reads like a wet dream if you live in an unconstitutional state. Unfortunately, given the current status of Congress and their inability to pass any meaningful legislation, including national cc reciprocity or the hearing protection act, I'd say the odds of passage are right around zero. Maybe if the gop had a majority in the house and Senate and had a president willing to sign the bills things would be different. Wait... Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk

Rather than me trying to put it in words, you'll be better served if you do a google search on 'Damascus barrel'. View images to see what they look like (they have real character) and read the description of how they are made to see why they look that way.

In light if the next gubernatorial election and the possibility of an even worse climate for gun ownership in NJ, I am considering the option of a second home in PA where to store my firearm collection. Any suggestion e.g. areas, range proximity, legal issues etc. would be much appreciated. Thanks!

So the NJSP is out with *proposed* (I say again - PROPOSED - these are *NOT* law yet) stun gun regulations: http://www.njsp.org/news/pdf/pr/20170821_2765a.pdf My take - the only proposed regulation is that you have to be 18 or older to possess one. Nothing about exempted locations/transportaiton, purchase permit, registration, etc. Just have to be 18 to possess, otherwise subject to confiscation. The Democrat legislators aren't going to like this...

i don't disagree, and i have a nice stable of variable power scopes to prove it. i love every one of my scopes and wouldn't trade them for anything. that said, it is very, very hard to beat an aimpoint t2 or an eotech standalone rds for sheer light weight and speed of target acquisition (for me). having a removable magnifier capable of reaching way beyond typical rds range is a huge added bonus. obsolete? meh i don't think so. aimpoint glass is up there with the best optics i own imo, and it's doubled as a nice spotting scope on occasion to boot in addition to giving me serious versatility also, speaking of costs, idk what everyone else has as far as preferences, but i subscribe to the old adage, "strong, light, cheap. pick two". hence, my optics are...not cheap. the initial cost of the 6x magnifier is steep, but it's a buy once, cry once philosophy. that magnifier is now interchangeable on any rds i have or will have for the rest of my life. atm it's mated to an aimpoint t2, but as i mentioned, i'm close to pulling the trigger on an eotech exps 3-2. after discounts and rebates, i'm looking at $478 and change. 6x mag is a sunk cost, so i have a light, rugged 1-6 holo optic for $478 is the way i see it. can't even come close to beating that with a scope. if/when i build another rifle and want a trijicon mro, a 1-6 rds optic on that will be $450 and change. for comparison, my nightforce 1-4 nxs was $1300, and weighs the same as the rds/mag setup. a vortex 1-6x weighs 8oz more and costs the same anyway, just get all of the optics. it's the only way to be sure. rds, magnifier, fixed optic, variable optic, all. you'll never run out of rifles to put them on, and you'll have a LOT of fun shooting them and comparing strengths/weaknesses. after all, it's only money

Dickhead alert If I'm shooting at an indoor range and the dude next to me is lighting off a 556 or 12 gauge I go bananas. If the dude has a 50 BMG, I will leave and ask for a refund. Ridiculous

Am I the only one who is going to question the sanity of shooting a .50 BMG indoors? Imagine shooting a pistol at the range and seeing the barrel of a Barrett .50cal protrude out from the lane next to you..

i went in there only once maybe a week after Maks wrote his glowing review of the place. Figured I'd check out the merch and rent a port for an hour maybe rent a gun. I was walking about inside for about 20mins look at accessories no one asked if i needed any help there was only me and one other customer in the store. I stood in the middle of the store and then over at the counter looked around shrugged my shoulders and left, fuck it i'll spend my money elsewhere. Not sure if i was wearing the wrong color tie to get service that day but I won't bother returning plenty other outstanding gun stores in this state.

I'll admit they were new. A few months old. The only advertisement I saw at the time was a billboard on 202/31 and small signs stuck in the ground about the county. Still left a bad taste. I'll practice more on letting go.

I have been a member there for over a year and this has never been my experience, and in fact I just renewed my membership for another year. Everyone from the owner, range officers, professional, and clerical staff have always been very friendly and helpful.

It's like I've been saying all along. It's all about the "imagery" and how the anti 2A forces (especially the MSM) can twist and misinterpret that imagery for their own agenda. The image of us OC'ing at any rally, even a strict pro 2A support rally is a gold mind to the anti's that want to show us in a bad light. All those "idiots with their cammo and orange and big black scary assault weapons..." Now, multiply that with the images of known hate groups (KKK, Nazi's etc.) and there's nothing but trouble. Yes, I do support OC for those that wish to do it. I personally would not unless I'm somewhere where it is SOP (like an outdoor range where everyone does it). And, personally, I like that element of surprise. But, as High Exposure says, "Just because you have the right to do it doesn't mean you should." We must face a sobering truth...We pro2A folks are a small group compared with the rest of the country. It's not that all the others are "anti." It's that most don't really think about it. But they do listen to the MSM, and they tend to believe what they're told. And.... they vote! Yes, I'm talking about the "sheeples." And so we have to be very careful about how we pro-2A folks present ourselves to the rest of society. This will have to be a gradual, "evolutionary" process. People have to get used to the concept of seeing people other than LEOs OC'ing. Like I've said before, if the "2A fairy" were to wave her wand and make NJ "Constitutional Carry" tomorrow (both OC & CC), doing so would reek havoc... as most of the public would be SWATing the OC'ers like crazy. It needs to be a bit more gradual than that. Not so "gradual/evolutionary" that it never seems to happen, but not that it happens "all at once" either. For the MSM, It's all about the imagery. It needs to be for us as well.

I'll save you the call to GSSC. While it's rated to 50bmg, I believe 300 win is largest caliber allowed. Noise and blow back should be considered. I'd shoot it out doors personally.

Dear phil. I do not own a 50 bmg. I have no idea what pizza bob is talking about.

Are we seriously debating this? We teach our kids this before kindergarten: "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." On a different note - if you are going to any kind of rally/protest/march/etc... and you see KKK or swastikas, that's a clue to about face and go home. All your presence does is add credence to those awful people. Standing shoulder to shoulder with a brown shirt or a white sheet will never ever help our cause.

I've had issues where I get a significant change in POI with change in bullets. i.e. jacketed vs coated lead. But 6" at 15 yards is a LOT. I'd examine the barrel, slide, and rails of the gun. make sure they look right and nothing is worn, cracked, etc. If you change the barrel lock up, you can move POI by a LOT.
