Fort DIX this weekend?

Recommended Posts

Good times. Rained non-stop for the first couple hours we were there. Then stopped for a bit... then drizzled on and off... Then rained all the way back home. I feel like a drowned rat. The one time I didn't have a poncho or something in the car... Still.. I had a blast

ETA: Thanks to all the members that signed us guests in and everyone for letting me play with their guns.

The highlight for me, hands down, was the Scout. That thing is awesome.

A big thanks to those that were kind enough to let my son rip off a few! And for my trigger time behind the Mosin. Forget effectiveness or accuracy. Im going to buy one just to hear that deep bass thwump! Very satisfying :)Great to meet those I havent met in person before and always good to see those again that I have.

Rain Broke, Kid became a non zombie and we made it out. Saw Ray and Ben as they were leaving. Sorry I missed the morning.

Cody broke in his 597 and had a great time. 2 pumpkins, 2 cases of Hugs Juice bottles and 1 wrestling action figure. Lots of lead downrange. made for a fantastic time.

Like that Mosin, huh? :)

Your son looked kinda bored and I wanted to pull out the 10/22 anyway. Glad he had fun.

Oh so that was you. Yeah we were heading out. I was in the blue car behind Ray, Chris was the red car behind me, and BBK was the black corolla.

Heh yeah - he tried out my M44. Only 2 rounds but he loved the boom.

And for the Savage Haters out there (you know who you are)...

In the bullseye is a four round group from 100 yards with a Savage Model 10 Precision Carbine (the holes on the left are from prior shooting) using Lake City 7.62x51 ammo. It's certainly the best group I've ever shot.

The guys listed in the past posts made it, as well as njpilot and his wife's brother (I hope I remembered that correctly!).

It was really nice meeting some new faces finally, and of course on the day that the AR gods place Caine and I in the same vicinity (and Shane too)-- its a downpour.

As I was driving down, the rain started lightly-- I was thinking, "this isn't too bad." As soon as I hit Cookstown, it just started really coming down. I then pull into R14, and its absolutely packed... turned out it was a hunter safety course day. Fortunately, though the initial parking was bad, the lanes themselves were pretty open for the duration we were there (from opening til about 1PM, literally right when Tim and his son got there).

I'd say it was a pretty good turnout considering the weather-- and even better spirits. badchevelle, thanks for getting us to where we were trying to go-- and we made it to Mastoris with ease.

Good time, and good to meet some new and old faces. My favorite of the day was TJ's 17HMR-- that rifle was awesome B). Also, finally seeing a MN fireball was pretty awesome (Nick's M44).

Hopefully next time the weather will favor us a bit more, but good times regardless.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
