djg0770 481 Posted March 4, 2012 Seriously. And I have the title too (for the boat, not the trailer). Is there someone that will buy an older 6 cyl 2 cycle Mercury outboard? It's been stored indoors for the last 6-8 years. Any suggestions?
tony357 386 Posted March 4, 2012 Will the trailer go down the road? you can post it on craigs list or i know where you can take it to dispose of it costs 20.00 ft. What year is the engine?

EX Carnival man 223 Posted March 4, 2012 I was in the same boat so to speak. I call the Salvation Army. They came by picked it up and I got a small tax write off.
jgofnj 5 Posted March 4, 2012 Like AlexV said. There are many places that will take it as a donation, great tax write off, some even give you a free vacation for it.
Duppie 73 Posted March 4, 2012 Can't help you but I can tell you what one enterprising boat owner did when faced with the same problem. My friend, a Pep Boys Manager 'arrived one morning to find a 20ft boat neatly sawed into 4 pieces and stacked in his outdoor used tire cage...stayed there for 2 years. SpecialK 193 Posted March 4, 2012 1) put all guns on boat 2) boat sinks 3) call it tragic
halbautomatisch 60 Posted March 4, 2012 I can't imagine you would have trouble selling the motor if it's in working condition. Small used outboards are hard to come by, somebody will snatch it up if it's operational.

Red Solo Cup 11 Posted March 4, 2012 There's one that seems to be abandoned behind the former NJSP barracks on route 130 in Cranbury/East Windsor. It's been there for 2-3 years. Probably defaulted on the loan and the bank refused to come get it.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted March 4, 2012 1) put all guns on boat 2) boat sinks 3) call it tragic Yup Or let Matt6669 row it down to Florida for ya.

djg0770 481 Posted March 4, 2012 8 7 7 cars 4 kids LOL F_ck no. will not support that shit no matter what. It's a 17 ft closed bow runabout from the 70's. The transom needs to be redone, the trailer will need 20 minutes worth of work (air in tires and pump new grease into the bearing buddies). The boat needs about 1 sq ft of minor fiberglass repair on the lower left side near the rear from where it hit some asphaltic macadam (it was a LONG day and at that point I kinda resolved that used boats were not for me). The hull is rated up to 135HP. The motor is 115HP early 80's (not sure of size or age) Mercury with stainless prop, but no hydraulic trim but I have hydraulic trim from the previous 85 HP motor on the back of the boat above which was working when I laid it up... All of the above is located in northern Passaic County. If you have a kid who wants a project, let me know... Like I said I have the title for the boat but not for the trailer. PK90 - my luck I would set the freaking house on fire too. SpecialK, VladG, tony357, my luck I would get sucked in by the sinking boat - or better yet it wouldn't sink. ETA - need to get it off my property so I can sell my house and EFTS (escape from this state).
Vlad G 345 Posted March 4, 2012 If escape from the state is the goal, I'd say put it in storage until that is done, then put you FID on it and give it a Viking burial. It would make you feel better about owning boats in general and be an appropriate sendoff for the FID.

djg0770 481 Posted March 6, 2012 I have a buddy looking for a 12-14 footer. What is the condition of yours, trailer, pics? Where are you located? condition is "project boat - needs work". Trailer was homebuilt and I have no documentation which I now understand involves a PIA hassle in NJ. Pics? yeah, not putting pics of that POS on the internet so you guys can make fun of me - sorry, I'm not THAT much of a tool. Located in northern Passaic County. djg0770 481 Posted March 6, 2012 Can we shoot it? What kind of boat? Pics? Yup - you can shoot it if you figure out how to dispose of it after you shoot it. Though after it's all shot up this might be an option: http://www.thebagster.com/
