It was a guy from Brooklyn with a "foriegn" name who has been in the country for at least seven years, he has been captured and claims to have done this for (surprise surprise) ISIS.  The religion of peace at work yet again.

It was in the pedestrian tunnel between Port Authority and 42nd st Times square.

An ISIS-inspired Bangladeshi national set off an homemade explosive device at the Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station Monday morning, law enforcement sources said.  The suspected bomber – a 27-year-old who lived in Brooklyn – had wires attached to him and was armed with a five-inch metal pipe bomb and battery pack as he walked through the Manhattan transit hub, sources said.

It's been reported recently that ISIS is encouraging followers to stage attacks against Western targets this Christmas season. Perhaps this is related? Not really surprising, I'm afraid. Sad.

Suicide bombings (which this one looks like) are million times more dangerous than anything else. That paradigm is extremely difficult to control and manage.  Its not about the damage from incidents themselves, but the shift it causes in politics, society demand for "security" and subsequent actions resulting in total dismantling of freedoms we enjoyed for centuries (or whats left of it).
