Please note in your attachment stopping to eat, get gas, use the bathroom and other things are permitted even with handguns if you are going or coming to the range. Transport between between two houses you own is covered elsewhere in the law. IIRC correctly it covers transport between homes, businesses, or other property owned or leased by you.

His response is what he has been taught in this environment. Dont answer him. Show him by taking him to the range and having a boat load of fun shooting it.

Calmly ask him for a legitamate reason as to why you, a law abiding citizen, should not have one? Works every time...

I will also add, as I've done countless times before, I have never heard of anyone being arrested for an "unreasonable deviation" going or coming to the range.

How do you eat Weiner Schnitzel without lemon or lingonberries? Doesn’t that break your food rule? You didn’t save me any.

I personally use Costco as an example when talking about ammo purchases: people go to Costco and buy a mega-package of paper towels, for instance, because they KNOW they'll use up the paper towels over time and by buying in bulk they get a cheaper price per roll. Well, I (and many shooters) buy ammo in bulk (typically on the Internet) for the same exact reasons. No big whoop. Even my most ardent anti-gun friends seemed to wrap their brains around that one....especially when I show them that 5000 rounds of .22lr is about the size of a large shoebox... then it's less intimidating!

You should offer to take him shooting. He's obviously not anti gun, sounds more like a fudd to me. Take him to shoot your AR and you will probably convert him @Shane45 great minds think alike

^^^Excellent post Peel! The easiest way to "push-back" is to wear "gun apparel" in public. And then do KIND STUFF & BE SEEN DOING IT! I try to do it every day. Helping a senior with groceries, letting someone cut in front of you at the checkout if they're only buying a gallon of milk, gifting a double amputee Vet a diet snapple as he waits in 90* heat for the senior/disabled bus to get to Walmart's bus stop. All of those things are so EASY to do! I think it took me a whole week to do all of them? All while wearing shirts with "COALITION OF NEW JERSEY FIREARM OWNERS" printed on them! Trouble is some folks here are so new that they've been POISONED by the candy-assers & nay-sayers that think gun ownership should be kept a deep, dark, SECRET! We sometimes are our own worst enemy! Be an AMBASSADOR TO THE SHOOTING SPORTS by wearing "GUN APPAREL" & start conversations. FWIW several women have come up to me wanting to know where to shoot & get training as I'm grocery shopping in Shop Rite! The more I wear "gun shirts", the more I get approached for info. People, especially women, often say their dads taught them to shoot long ago & they've raised their kids & want to take-up the sport again. Or a young mom wants to protect her family against a home invasion! These "hidden gems" are out there like gold in a slough, they just need a sifter to find them. If yer reading this YOU'RE THE SIFTER!

Your post to a gun forum about meatloaf has at least 3-pages. Two of them are criticizing your use of pineapple. Perhaps your standards are too high? I posted pictures of my Sig to njmeatfoums.com and got blocked.

It only covers 2C:39-6g which is deviation. That specific law covers hand guns. Jersey gun law is advanced Civics Class. One has to understand that other rules cover transportation of long guns. The AG's doc in the hot link only covers "6g"! Some firearms rules & laws are located in our HUNTING regs, where a 16 yr old can carry an unloaded scattergun over their shoulder BY THEMSELVES while en-route to a zoned legal hunting area. Not old enough to buy the gun, but can use it to hunt with! Like I wrote before, DON'T THINK ABOUT READING THE LAWS cause you'll only confuse yerself. Read only the EXCEPTIONS & EXEMPTIONS, and then ask yerself where is it written that yer allowed to BREATHE AIR? Looking for "permission" to breathe air is as stupid as reading the laws themselves. You'll find that laws are written to tell you WHAT YOU CAN'T DO & not WHAT YOU CAN....Exceptions & exemptions allowed Evan Nappen to carry an unloaded folding pistol caliber carbine in his briefcase while on stage at John Willet's NJSAFECON 2 years ago! EVERYONE READING THIS SHOULD GO TO SAFECON!

In this state we may be more of minority than in other areas of the country... but I reject the term "mutants"! Seriously though, I think the more that the anti-gun crowd tries to "demonize" law-abiding gun owners, the more imperative it is that our community pushes back - one person at a time - to show how normal and non-threatening it really is. A law abiding person who owns a gun is no more fearsome or dangerous than a law-abiding person who owns a set a kitchen knives... owns a pressure cooker and some fireworks... owns a baseball bat... or owns a motor vehicle. If you don't have murderous intent, NONE of these things pose a danger to anyone. We can't push that message hard enough IMO.

The OP is a perfect reason for everyone to have a good quality video security system on their house. Not one of these single, cute, plug-n-play WiFi cameras or a Ring video doorbell, but multiple cameras covering all possible entry points on the house. With video evidence, the cops will know exactly who these Tweakers are, and usually they are repeat offenders, so the cops know exactly where to find them.

This is correct, that guy just hasn't been watching enough CNN. He was suppose to call that AR15 a "Military Assault Weapon of War", just like the communists on CNN call it.

Actually, I think that's a great answer! I always remind people about the "evolution of design" - and how different guns developed for different purposes... and that's why there's different types. And shooting a shotgun, for instance, is much different than shooting a pistol. Then, if you factor in the "hobbyist" aspect and, for some, the "collector" aspect … well, it's not at all surprising to see an avid shooter with a "collection" of guns. Then I say this: it's really no different than walking into the garage or laundry room of an avid skier and seeing a couple pair of downhill skis, a set of cross-country skis, perhaps a pair of slalom skis, a snowboard or two... and then walking into their sitting room and seeing several pair of antique skis displayed on the wall. Same exact thing! Hobbies tend to lead to collections. And you can extrapolate that to ANY hobby really - a photographer, a golfer, a car enthusiast, etc. Do you NEED more than one camera? Do you NEED more than one golf club? Do you NEED more than one car? Of course not, but if you're a hobbyist, you'll enjoy having several. If you explain that really nicely and casually, the light bulb usually goes off. And yeah, as others have said, get this guy to the range to try your AR-15!

I'd like to know that as well. The only line of reasoning I can come up with is that the people enforcing the law don't know the law.

Why would the leftists be opposed to releasing this? We should all write in and say hey, Florida just published this report and we want the same transparency for NJ.

What breed of hunting dog? I'd recommend getting involved with NAVHDA. It's a great resource for training dogs and meeting other people with hunting dogs. If your looking to get some help with training check out Bob at shore shot kennals in baranaget. He's a top notch breeder and trainer. Welcome to the madness.........err I mean forum Yes you can keep legally your shotgun in your work vehicle.

Hey back to everyone - I’m a former member of SJSC and currently at Telco and I love it there. Perfect club for me and my buddies - kids too when they become ready. I travel with a group for sporting clays (went to Cedar Creek today) we frequent M&M, Cedar Creek, Quinton, and even out to Lehigh Valley. Going to Red Wing with the group when they reopen in the fall. Not familiar with Stafford however...

I spoke to a guy who thought the same thing. I found it easy to change his mind when I told him about the competitive matches, how many rounds are spent during a match and how many rounds are spent to practice for matches. Then the dim bulb lit and he realized there is actually a reason why it's convenient to purchase ammo in cases of 500 and 1,000 rounds.

As @Zeke said it's hand guns for that rule, and even then "loaded mags" is a gray area as @GRIZ already explained. FWIW you may also be compounding your understanding by confusing FOPA with what you can do in NJ once you've been granted a NJFPID card. Notice I said "GRANTED", because nowhere in the statutes does it say that the card actually has to BE ON YER PERSON... For long gun transport I could dump a dozen AR's of every chambering into the trunk of my sedan, then crack-open cases of ammo & dump the loose ammo onto the unloaded guns so it can scratch-up every rifle as it all bounces around together like a tossed salad with every bump in the road. Once I close my trunk, the NJSP considers it all to be SECURED. Easiest way to understand NJ gun law IS TO STOP READING IT & instead concentrate your gray matter to only the EXCEPTIONS & EXEMPTIONS. If you don't take my advice, you'll find out ALL FIREARMS IN NJ ARE ILLEGAL and to own, collect, transport or shoot them YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN PERIL. Even Black Powder muzzleloaders are considered firearms in NJ. But that doesn't stop a group like GArden State Black Powder Association from doing Living History Encampments (this one was Colliers Mills in 2011). That SxS had over 300 ignitions that weekend, all blanks fired by the public.

Just trying to be a nice husband. I've tried to get her to come to the range, but she said no way, enjoy your hobby by yourself. OK, so to try and get her interested with something not as lethal as a firearm, I bought her a crossbow, as a "starter" present. Nope, she's not interested... not even a thank you for thinking about her... So, now I went and bought her first "Assault" carbine, thinking this might stir up her interest... Her response, "I think I need to take you for a CT scan of your brain"... How's that for gratitude?? Here's what I bought her... (she always complains about the flies outside during a barbecue). Nice, isn't it?

Like I said a few posts ago it all depends on taste. Mustard or mayo on ham or turkey okay with me. Nothing but mustard on corned beef, pastrami, or salami!!! No ketchup on burgers, mustard for me. Mayo with my fries please! I'll take my steak medium well thank you. We all have our food rules.

Ok (step uncle) ... so using your argument above lets look at this situation again. A turkey is not a mammal, its a bird, and since Zeke used ground turkey for his meatloaf there was no '"cross contamination" of fruit and "meat". Thereby rendering the objections in this thread to pineapple touching turkey all moot points.

I believe the loaded mag in the trunk issue derives from a case several years ago on another state. The guy was charged with loaded firearm as the prosecutor interpreted the law as "any part of the firearm is loaded". The charge was eventually dropped. This is the only case I ever heard of with someone being charged with this. Since then everyone has this loaded magazine thing. I know Nappen suggests unloaded magazines but I don't see how he justifies it.

Yeah, there's definitely something that's particularly revolting about that light shining through the middle of his foot. Is it just me, or does that device invite the violation of one of the primary rules of firearms safety? (Of course, one would have to violate another couple of rules or so to produce the depicted result.)

If you read the motion in opposition to the injunction filed by the NJAG (http://www.thekaplanblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/18cv10507_31.pdf), you'll see that the state paid a consultancy (at the rate of **$900 per hour***) to come up with average number of rounds fired in self defense shootings. What kind of high powered research did the $900/hr consultants do to get their stats number of shots fired in self defense shootings? They read all the back columns of the NRA's "armed citizen": This argument is the same as arguing that since 56% of kitchen fires are put out with a 3 second burst from a fire extinguisher, no extinguisher should have more than 10 seconds of extinguishing capability....
