vjf915 456 Posted December 1, 2011 I don't know if it's my late night stupor that's causing me to not see well.....but I only see damage to the rear bumper. I don't see any rear quarter panel or trunk damage, and the bumper even appears as if it can be saved (can't be too sure without seeing it in person). Because of that, my guess is $931. Trunk lid or one of the rear quarter panels is not aligning properly. And this is all just the visible damage. who knows what is under it or once the car is on the lift. AS350Driver 56 Posted December 1, 2011 First off, glad to hear everyone is ok. My guess is $2000-2500, but like Murphy said if the frame got tweaked, most definitely a total loss.
ChrisJM981 924 Posted December 1, 2011 Paint is expensive. Wish I was a body shop owner. $4750 and totaled.
jcerillo70 16 Posted December 1, 2011 If its got 160k on her Maks, i would just go for new pins to hold the bumper and a $150 spray job on the bumper to fix the heavy scratches. grab a new truck release/catch if its bent because when she got hit the hooks probably snapped or got bent. $400 out of your pocket and you keep the insurance money. Ill talk to my bumper guy tomorrow at the dealership and see if he agrees
tommy3rd 132 Posted December 1, 2011 Start shopping for a new car. Too many things back there that might need replacement. My guess would be $5k and total loss.
67gtonut 847 Posted December 1, 2011 $2400 50/50 on the total.... not sure there...
Malsua 1,422 Posted December 1, 2011 If the trunk lid won't close, everything back there is probably tweaked. With that kind of mileage, it's totaled. I'll say $3500 if there is minimal straightening required. 6k+ if they have to put it on the frame machine.
e80hydro 120 Posted December 1, 2011 $2150.00 Used bumper painted to match with adjustments.
gimmemym1 34 Posted December 1, 2011 My wife has that same car, same color but its an 05. She got rear ended 3 months ago with very similar damage. Car was not totaled but the bill was about 4200. Her mileage was 103,000 So my guess is 4200 totaled.
Sigman 41 Posted December 1, 2011 $3350 They may be able to tweek things but it may be close to totalled. If the frame is bent or suspect, I say totalled.
djg0770 481 Posted December 1, 2011 $5300 and totalled.

mikeyboyeee 66 Posted December 1, 2011 $1200-1600 not totalled
BigHayden 77 Posted December 1, 2011 Wow, you guys who are guessing under $3000 haven't been to a body shop lately, have you? The situation with my wife's van was just a scrape. Minor plastic filler and paint and the bill was over $700. This repair needs more than that, plus parts.
raz-0 1,259 Posted December 1, 2011 I'm guessing between $3600 and 4800. The higher number is if they dented the gas tank or not.

Just to replace the rear bumper, and paint it is 1200 dollars. That's just for the bumper. There's a lot more going on with Mak's car.
Spartiati 63 Posted December 1, 2011 Wow looks like replacement of bumber cover and spray bumber cover. They won't blend quarters when they paint plastic anyway because paint on plastic doesn't match paint on metal exactly anyway. Guess I am on the low side here compared to most who posted but I say $1000-$1200 unless there is other damage under the bumper we can't see.
matt6669 71 Posted December 1, 2011 We already know there's more damage by the trunk not shutting properly.
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted December 1, 2011 Paint and bodywork for my last car (scraped down the side) cost over $3k.. I have no clue how you guys are lowballing this for anything under $4k....
Daedalus 19 Posted December 1, 2011 $4,750 - total
Maksim 1,504 Posted December 1, 2011 Not just bumper. Exhaust hanging off one side, trunk lid won't close without pushing lid in. 2 more hours
Spartiati 63 Posted December 1, 2011 Not just bumper. Exhaust hanging off one side, trunk lid won't close without pushing lid in. 2 more hours Looked at pics again, exhaust doesn't seem too bad could just be hanger. Trunk seams line up perfectly doesn't seem like structural damage might just be bumper pushing up from the bottom interfering with close. Am sticking with my estimate. I am assuming least amount of damage based on what I see. What's the prize?
