AmericanMade 0 Posted February 10, 2013 Hello all, I’m looking to ad my first .45 ACP to my collection. I have listed several guns below that I’ve been looking at. I know it is ultimately what feels better in my hand and what I shoot better but please let me know your thoughts on those listed such as pros/cons etc. Open to other suggestions but I’m currently not in the market for a 1911. (My father owns one and I shoot it often.) Interested in hearing your thoughts. Bully 749 Posted February 10, 2013 Personally, I have shot the G21 and it was sweet. However, the gun was modified by the owner. Keyholed the target at ten yards first time shooting it. Another one you may consider is the M&P 45c. It's still a rather large gun but feels great in hand. Just a touch smaller than the full sized. It's what I would go for if I was looking for more plastic. I have also held the Baby Eagle in 45. Great reviews. Great feel in hand. All steel and reasonably priced. They have (had?) one at Bullet Hole. If I was looking to add steel not in a 1911, it's what I would go for. Good luck. C
Vlad G 345 Posted February 10, 2013 That is a lot of different sizes and weights. Its hard to pick from that or suggest more without knowing your requirements.
Damjan 73 Posted February 10, 2013 I have the Glock 21 and the recoil is very good for a 45. I enjoy shooting it. At the time i got it i did it soecifically because i planned and ultimately did get a slide in 10mm. I ve also shot the M&P 45 and i can grip it better and shoot better with it. No experience with the other models you have listed.

I know, sorry, my list is all over the place with size, weight, and purpose. I'm looking for a good all around shooter to take to the range, home defense, possible out of state ccw with some models and generally looking to get some knowledge of other guns I have missed or am not considering. AmericanMade 0 Posted February 10, 2013 Beretta PX4 Storm I already have a PX4 Storm in 9mm and I do like it for that caliber but I'm looking for something else.

Glock 21 Gen 4. 13+1 standard, ability to add +2 to the mags. I have one and it is a fantastic shooter.
jrfly3006 42 Posted February 10, 2013 Im a Glock guy but have to admit I went and picked up an FNX-45... Great gun..it is big but holding it hasnt been a problem.. And the 15+1 capacity was a real plus for me as was the DA/SA capability. Price was also great for what you get..
Steve_G 51 Posted February 10, 2013 Range gun, home defense. Springfield -XD 45 or XDM 45, FNH - FNP 45 or FNX 45. Those are based on capacity. As far as my personal choice for a 45, well that's pretty simple, 1911.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted February 10, 2013 S&W Model 625 Well somebody had to do it.
lunker 274 Posted February 10, 2013 The CZ97 feels great in the hand. It is also a substantial hunk of steel. Recoil is negligible. Accurate as hell because of the slide in frame design.
Night Prowler 0 Posted February 10, 2013 Same thing lunker said. I love my 97B. I couldn't complain about it if I had to.
9X19 125 Posted February 10, 2013 The M&P's are very nice but if your budget allows, look at the H&K USP 45 and the H&K 45.
AmericanMade 0 Posted February 10, 2013 S&W Model 625 Well somebody had to do it. I really like the S&W Model 625..I almost bought one but I went with the 686 in .357 Magnum.

Maksim 1,504 Posted February 10, 2013 FNX 45 or HK45 +1. I live the baby eagles but they have mag issues. Fnx45 for budget minded, hk45 if you can swing it. Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk

Texas Shooter 35 Posted February 11, 2013 What are FNX's retailing for these days?
RSK70 0 Posted February 11, 2013 Not nearly enough love for the XD. Both the XD and XDM are awesome, slightly better finish on the XDM but wouldn't trade my XD for anything. Nothing like putting a few through the same hole at 15 yards. 13+1 is a win too.
MandM 2 Posted February 11, 2013 Here's another vote for the HK45/45c. I have a 45c and I love it.
jrfly3006 42 Posted February 11, 2013 What are FNX's retailing for these days? Call Atlantic Tactical in Somerset..they had a few FNX-45s.. $599.00 (LE price)

AmericanMade 0 Posted February 15, 2013 Thoughts on the new Sig p227 ?
spanky 1 Posted February 15, 2013 I love my p226, but prefer the .45acp round, so I'm excited to check out the p227. I don't think they're out yet, so you probably won't get much real-world feedback yet.
