Sevenshot 98 Posted November 20, 2016 Hi all! I grew up in North Carolina in a military family and did some hunting and shooting. After graduating from college, my wife and I moved to NYC for work. I was rightly warned not to bring any guns to NYC. An unbearable year later, we moved across the pond to Weehawken, and I was told NJ was more or less as restricted as NYC. A few years here and a recent drive past a shooting range, I realized this can't possibly be the case. A quick search and the laws seem a bit complicated here. I started doing some additional research and stumbled across this forum. After about a week of reading, I figured I should probably join and actually support you guys. Seriously, big thank you to the founder/admins of this forum for your time and commitment. I love learning about firearms (regular reader of Ruger and SW forums as well) and can obviously use all the help I can navigating the legal stuff. If there's anyone here who has recently applied for the firearms ID in Hudson County, I would love to hear your experience. I look forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of your community. Sevenshot 98 Posted November 21, 2016 Welcome! Where in NC are you from? The wife is from NC and we have family there....... The Fort Bragg/Fayetteville area. What part is your family in? I highly recommend the NC conceal as well if you can swing it. Good in a lot of states, though recently lost Virginia.

Sevenshot 98 Posted November 24, 2016 Welcome. "Sevenshot" for 7 shot 357 revolver or 7 shots and you're done for the night? More importantly, have you tried a pork roll, egg and cheese since moving across the river? Some may all it Taylor Ham, egg and cheese.......they are WRONG! LOL. The 7 shot 357 definitely ha. I've had that sandwich at a diner. It was solid, but doesn't beat my brunch go-to of a bacon stuffed grilled cheese.

Sevenshot 98 Posted April 7, 2017 Now that I've gotten my FPID to buy ammo, I'd like to start bringing some of my guns up from NC next time I'm down. From what I've seen, it looks like I can bring most of it to NJ. Is there any reason I should leave pistols in NC? Should I make it a point to dig up all the purchasing paperwork? No reason to leave your pistols in NC. No need to show proof of purchase or anything like that. Assuming they aren't "assault weapons" you're good to go. I moved from Ohio and brought my collection with the exception of a few that aren't legal in NJ, those have stayed out of state. Registration in NJ is VOLUNTARY. Do not register your firearms. Welcome and have fun.
