Wow, when I read the title of this thread I was thinking something completely different. I was going to lend you my Korean cookbook.

The ability that some here have to rationalize eating a shit sandwich never fails to amaze me. Strike that. It doesn't amaze me at all; I expect it. This is why the left always wins; even when losing, they always win. When did the left give in just a little on immigration? On the wall? On Daca? on voter ID? On e-verify? On tax cuts? On Obamacare? On anything Trump ran on? "But it could be worse with Hillary". Got news for you. Hilary lost; she ain't the president. The senate is not controlled by the democrats; neither is the house. There's no reason to give. Don't blame the rinos; blame yourself for voting for them; for allowing them to be rinos. Do you see any DINO's? And why not? Learn from the dems. The politicians only fear one thing; losing the job. Put that fear in them. We do nothing but give. I'm way past middle age and grey hair abounds and I'm tired of giving.

The BATFE letter isn't worthless, but it isn't going to necessarily save you. 1) Any cop dealing with you won't know jack in detail. They'll do what they want and let people with more knowledge and authority sort shit out so long as their ass is covered by probable cause. The converse to this is that they probably won't do anything about it unless you give them a reason to, because they don't know the technical details of the law, if they know the law at all. They either think all evil black rilfes are illegal, or they know some aren't. But that's probably it at best. 2) The NJSP firearms unit is tasked with providing guidelines to departments and prosecutors on the technicalities of the law. They have promulgated the pinkey test. Good or bad. 3) Prosecutors go to court to win cases and make their numbers look good. They won't take a shitty case to court to lose unless they have a grudge or strong marching orders. In theory, when making that determination, they would look at the case they have and make at least a quick consult on technical issues. At that point the actual, specific to this case, opinions of the NJFU will matter a whole lot to them. At that point, the BATFE letter as submitted by your lawyer will also probably matter to them. Once again absent a grudge or strong marching orders, if they both say no it's not, your bill stops being run up there and you move on with your life minus some cash. 4) If it doesn't stop there, you are now going to argue reality vs the law in front of a judge. The law does NOT define a flash suppressor. This means more than likely you will have to down the road of arguing the common understand of the language used in the law. Which will lead to trying to prove that the device does not lessen flash in any meaningful way. The BATFE during the AWB had some unpublished metric for this. Now it does not. This leaves your lawyer and the prosecutor arguing over how much flash it makes vs a bare muzzle, and arguing what meets the common understanding of suppressed. This will likely mean expert testimony. The prosecutor's will be the NJFU guys if they concur it IS one, and possibly additional expert testimony sourced elsewhere. If favorable, one of those expert sources will likely be the manufacturer themselves, and any marketing materials will likely be accepted as the opinion of same in their absence and ignorance of the trial. The prosecutor will not be paying for anything that might help you. IF they have, the entity will just stay home and their results will be secret unless your lawyer discovers their existence and contents. If you are in this position, it means they have been told NO and prosecuted anyway. Don't expect them to abide by the law and willingly disclose stuff they have not made part of their case. SO now you have to pay for experts. Which cost a shit ton. AND you need the judge to not then decide that the common understanding of things is unfavorable to you and your expert. THAT is what TBill means by the letter being worthless. IT isn't protection from anyone but the BATFE. Vs. state law it is just evidence from an expert source in a situation where you are explicitly asking a judge, who based on precedent thinks you should go fuck yourself, for their opinion on where the threshold of the law is. Myself, if I didn't care about it being effective as a comp, I'd avoid that risk and just perm-attach a thread protector. IT's safe and gets the job done. It's also cheap. If I cared about it being effective, I'd buy something that did a good job. And produced as much of a fireball as possible. It would also be absent any verbiage from the manufacturer about flash suppression.

If liberals think that you are not responsible enough to own a gun, drink, or buy cigarettes until you are 21 then I would think that you are not responsible enough to be serve in the military, be drafted, or more importantly vote. These laws need to be changed as well. If they think that at 18 you are responsible enough to vote for a person that has the power to change the world then I would think that you should be responsible enough to have a beer or do a little target shooting or hunting with your own gun.

Honestly, I'd like to see kennedy go and be replaced with someone who gets high marks form the NRA AND the ACLU. Someone who is jsut a fan of freedom of the individual to not be dicked around by the system.

I don't give a damn about bump stocks. If they're banned or regulated via a law, so be it. My issue is HOW they want to go about banning them. A regulation from an unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy is not how this should be done. It sets precedent and opens too many doors for the next administration to ban whatever they want through executive Fiat. This will end badly.

My problem is with him giving something unilaterally. As a business man (that he is), he should have tied it with something, like DACA with wall. Either each side gets something or nobody gets nothing. He should have tied any "compromise" with a National CCW. Or tie with repeal of the real problem - Gun Free Zones. Or pick something ridiculous (still right thing to do) as calling Death Penalty for anyone shooting up schools. Giving something unilaterally is the shitty thing to do.

I can’t say what I want about Murphy without getting banned. We should hold another rally in Trenton. Outside his window, like we did a few years ago. We should die trying too...

Pinky test is not an actual test. Who's pinky is really the actual size? Don't get hung up on the legality of it. You've got the BATFE letter - that's more than enough for me. There are other comps out there that are a lot more in the grey area.

^^^Dude, I'm NOT the enemy! For the record, I don't like shit sammiches either, I just have to either learn to live with them (cause I only vote ONCE in each election) or I can retreat to Canada like a draft dodger. Since I'm a realist I understand how the world works. I don't always enjoy it, but I understand it...

Call or write to NJSP Det. Sgt. Brett Bloom in Firearms Division. Sgt. Bloom attended NJSAFECON for the last two years & is VERY helpful answering questions. He writes the rules, so he oughtta KNOW what they are, lol. He's a NRA Lifer & on our side

DON'T ask lawyers, cops or gunsmiths Any questions on legality for anything gun related! You would probably get better advice from a shoemaker! The pinky test is BS. If it is sold as a compensator or brake and the description says nothing about flash mitigation. You are GTG! PS. The best place to ask questions is right here on this forum. There are more knowledgeable people here than just about anywhere you could find!

If Murphy reduces magazine capacity to 10 rounds I say the state of New Jersey owes me a ton of money for making my legally purchased property illegal with a stroke of a pen! Let them pay for the replacements or blocks!

Trump is the most skilled negotiator that gun owners have ever had elected to the Presidency in modern times. So if he can get a good deal for real expansion of rights (permit reciprocity and NFA reform, for instance) in exchange for banning ridiculous loophole trick novelties such as "bump stocks" and raising the age for semi-automatic rifles to 21, it would not be all bad. And if he can't get a good deal, it will be no deal. Remember, Ronald Reagan ended up signing a bill in 1986 gaining for gun owners, among other things, full legalization of interstate transport of firearms, legalization of buying long arms outside of your state of residence, removal of federal logging of ammunition sales, and reduction in the power of the ATF, in exchange for a ban on new machine gun registrations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firearm_Owners_Protection_Act So there are things to be gained by doing deals. There are also benefits to engaging in negotiation even if you think a deal is unlikely. Remember, George W. Bush said explicitly he would sign a renewal of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban when it was expiring in 2004 - the only reason he didn't do it is because congress didn't pass a renewal. What legal reform was he willing to negotiate for gun owners in exchange for his signature on an extension of that ban? Absolutely nothing. George H.W. Bush banned the importation of most semi-automatic rifles by executive action. Ever wonder why you have to go through the ridiculousness of figuring out parts counts for US made compliant parts to get an imported rifle 922r compliant? That's George W. Bush's regulation. What did he negotiate for us in exchange for that ridiculous law that has people counting and replacing perfectly good parts to make their guns "compliant"? Absolutely nothing! Gerald Ford wanted to ban "saturday night specials" but fortunately no bills doing such made it to his desk to sign, and he was not President for too long in any event. Richard Nixon was in favor of making handguns illegal and requiring licenses for hunting rifles, but again fortunately congress never sent him a bill to sign on these items. Those are the Republican presidents we have had since the Gun Control Act of 1968. Don't let perfection be the enemy of the good.

Put the food down for 10 minutes and if he does not eat his food pick it up. Dogs are not stupid they will not starve themselves. If he goes longer then a few days without eating then i would take him to the vet to rule out any other issues. Make sure hes going to the bathroom normal and that hes not lethargic in any way.
  22. 1 point
That’s why the ATF may come back and say “same answer as before” and Trump goes to congress and says “change the definition of you want it banned”, the Congress opens up the whole NFA for changes. Maybe things like bumps get added but silencers and SBRs come off.

Not sure I understand exactly what you are implying. Don't get the comp? BATFE letter is worthless? And why / what other charges? Are you saying they would charge me with possession of a assault weapon and pile on charges because of the comp? A little more clarification would be much appreciated.
  29. 1 point
It could be a lawyer's trick. Pile on the mud to exhaust the other side even if you know you're wrong. It all comes down to how much money one side wants to or can pay for defense.
  30. 1 point
Of course its common sense. Once this is signed it will eliminate all the bad guns and insure the bad people will not have them anymore. Any fool can see that.

I agree and I spent a couple days trying to educate the morons on Facebook, but what is the reason for the separate account? I was happy to see who the communists were that were part of my friends list. I had at least 30 "de-friend" me. I rarely use Facebook, but I am still happy to have them out of my circle. The main concern is just "giving in" in general... and especially, without a counter concession (like national reciprocity, etc.). You give the antis one inch, they'll want a mile, the next day.... and 2 miles the next day thereafter, and 4 miles the following day, etc. etc. until they have everything they want. We cannot give one inch... not one.

No No! You see, Murphy is gonna go TOO far! And then the courts are gonna shut him down! Because he's a stupid liberal! Just you wait and see. You have to understand the 4-D chess that goes into it! [insert toothless advocacy group here] needs our donations because they're going to snare Murphy in this legal trap! (The above was sarcasm)

Definitely obey the speed limit on the base. You will get a ticket for doing 27 in a 25 and you have to appear before a magistrate. No paying that ticket on-line. You can smoke at R-14. Every cease fire is smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

Totally correct^^^! Hopefully he's playing his cards close to the vest. His team did a great job playing the Electoral College vote w/ tv buys that went into other states that he won. Let's hope just because we don't know what the game is, that we still enjoy the net-net outcome. Remember the politics surrounding HR 38 & "the bump"? Well, HR 38 cleared the house didn't it? This could merely be the second shoe to drop. Keep in mind it's not a law, just an EO, which he himself can rescind after National Reciprocity becomes signed LAW.... I put NOTHING past the realm of possibility, and I continue to hope for the best!

It's also politics & pick yer battles. He did this to shut-up the RINO pansies that need to feel good. He has more legislation to move, so now he can point to this & say he "did something". I knew it was going to happen. Anybody with half a brain & gray hair had at least an inkling. I trust my gut just like Leroy Jethro Gibbs, lol! As you wring yer hands & cry over the "bump", keep in mind Hildebeast would have done a LOT worse than this...

It won't as it exists. That's been clear for a while. The only appointment was to replace a pro 2a guy with what is likely a pro 2a guy. Until you replace someone who is anti or a waffler, you won't change the behavior of the court. That behavior will be detrimental to everyone on many issues, because it weakens the position of the court and sets precedent to disregard other amendments.

I just read the statute and the administrative code. I thought a qualifiying shoot was a requirement. It seems that it's just one of four possible ways to meet the "thoroughly familiar" standard. I'm an NRA certified instructor in pistol so I think that will work.

I personally think they hate AR15 platform (and likes) because its modular, interchangeable, simple, easy maintenance. They start there and they will come after EVERYTHING, no matter how much of "we are not after your guns" song they sing. They are wolves in sheep cloths.

I used the term psych meds because the long list of shooters on psych meds were taking ssris and one other category I don't recall off the top of my head. We already have a question on there that boils down to "if you are taking schedule one drugs or prescription drugs without a prescription or drink to much you can't buy guns." perhaps ssris need to be added to that explicitly or need to be moved to schedule one and thus included implicitly. They can cause suicidal ideation, sleep driving, sleep fucking and or rape, increased aggression, and other fun things. Additionally, if you need them you probably have mental issues. If you need them to get over the hump while you develop coping skills for your issues and then stop you aren't prohibited anymore. If you need them forever, well you are fucked, because they cause up regulation of serotonin receptors. You will constantly be ramping up and then at some point it won't work and you still need to be weened off. Unless your doc believes you need them too much. Then you get to have pseudo parkinsonian tremors, which continued use can make permanent. In which case you shouldn't be operating a firearm. If you are being prescribed them inappropriately, and don't really need them, you are at increased risk of the more weird ass side effects and should get off them. Should someone tripping balls be using firearms? No. Should someone at serious risk of being dissociated from reality because of their prescription meds? That answer may also need to be no. If a drug had narcolepsy like symptoms in 25% of users, should taking it disqualify you from operating a car on public roads? You have chronic depression needing ssris? Maybe funds aren't for you. You are well controlled on them? Well guess what, you keep on seeing the psychiatrist because your meds need constant adjusting. Well regulated still usually means that you start regressing or showing side effects due to dosing. When you can keep talking your meds and still fall off the wagon, perhaps life and death decisions aren't for you. I've got a friend who has been on them for a long time. They keep asking to go shooting. I keep not taking them. They take their meds, see their therapist, get dosages adjusted etc. but they still are often not the one who notices they are getting depressed and out of control again. I'm not saying anyone has to agree with me. And maybe the issue of ssris shouldn't be dealt with at the batfe end of things. Maybe it should be dealt with at the prescribing end and cracking down on how the medical industry uses them. Maybe it should be like pain meds and handing them out like candy should stop and the therapeutic use should narrow. But maybe iatrogenic addiction to shit that can cause a psychotic break in some users should be considered disqualifying.
