Our rights are being eroded because of that exact mindset. Giving up this for that because whatever it is that has less value to you is not being fought for by you. I may not agree with something someone has to say, but I will fight for their right to say it. We give Fudds a hard time because they will say nothing when AWB's go up since they get to keep their precious shotguns or bolt actions. Anti's do not compromise. Their compromise is taking away less than they initially wanted. Their deals are made by moving the goal posts. I think bump stocks are silly and are a novelty. However, I do not believe they should be banned. The 2A is not about personal defense. It is about arming the citizenry to make them the bulwark of liberty. We need to continue fighting on all fronts. We fight NJ's AWB, we fight NJ's CCW laws, we fight proposed federal AWB laws. We need to stop the slow erosion of rights.

I've testified at one of these before, and I'd do it again, but I can't make this one. I did contact the committee members, though. Whether the outcome is predetermined or not, "The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing".

I haven't been around the firearms issue as long as some of you. So, for me anyway, this is the biggest wave of attacks on gun owners that I've personally ever witnessed. The CNN Town Hall (which I felt was premature in the most ghastly way) was like watching a circus of raw emotions... people with alternative views were savaged, it was a festival of lies by that corrupt sheriff and a blatantly one-sided moderating job by Tapper... I felt like this must have been what it was like back when the Roman Coliseum was operating! And things are so raw, so nuts, we're seeing completely nonsensical arguments being formed: "Kids under 21 are too young to have AR-15s" + "These kids are so wise and mature, they must be allowed to vote at 16." "Yes, everyone in charge bungled their jobs" + "We don't care... just blame the guns." There's NO sense, NO logic, and NO effort to have a fact-based discussion. It's hysteria... on steroids... and being fueled with $500,000 donations from celebs. In the middle of it all we have our mercurial President, who sometimes seem to sway whichever way the wind is blowing. That's a real concern. That said, I've never seen a more important time for gun owners to reach out DIRECTLY to the White House. Some suggestions: Be polite and respectful. Be brief - I would guess MAXIMUM - 90 seconds on the phone or one page written. If you voted for Trump, do mention that first! If you have concerns about some of the specific ideas being proposed, say why. If you support some of the proposals, explain why you support them. [if you don't know what to say, I'm sure the group could collaboratively come up with bullet points - don't be afraid to ask - not everyone's a gabby goose!] There are 2 links attached: This one is to call or write a snail mail letter to the White House: https://www.whitehouse.gov/get-involved/write-or-call/ This second link is to send an email: https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ I don't Tweet myself, but if you do... go for it! As much as I support the general work of the 2A orgs, I personally wouldn't let the NRA, the GOA or any other organization speak for me when I can simply pick up the phone... or take to the keyboard... and speak for myself. So, I'm going to do this (just trying to decide if I'll call or write). But, I respectfully ask that the rest of you also consider doing this... and further, that you share the White House contact info on other forums/Facebook pages, etc. that you might frequent. This is a simple, direct way that gun owners can make their voices heard. In fact, I'm committing - right here, right now - to contact the White House at least quarterly - with a focus on whatever's happening with the gun issue at that particular time. Because I think it's that important to keep the pressure on. What say the rest of you?

HOW THE FIGHT STARTED... One year, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift. The next year, I didn't buy her a gift. When she asked me why, I replied, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!" And that's how the fight started..... ______________________________ __ My wife and I were watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire while we were in bed. I turned to her and said, 'Do you want to have sex?' 'No,' she answered. I then said, 'Is that your final answer?' She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying, 'Yes..' So I said, "Then I'd like to phone a friend." And that's when the fight started... ______________________________ __ I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first. "I'll have the rump steak, rare, please." He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?" "Nah, she can order for herself." And that's when the fight started..... ______________________________ _ My wife at her high school reunion, and she kept staring at a drunk swigging his drink as he sat alone at a nearby table. I asked her, "Do you know him?" "Yes", she sighed, he's my old boyfriend He began drinking right after we split up years ago, and hasn't been sober since." "My God!" I said, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?" And then the fight started... ______________________________ __ When our lawn mower broke my wife kept nagging me to get it fixed. But, I always had something else to take care of. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. I found her seated in the tall, unmowed grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. I said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway." The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp. ______________________________ My wife sat down next to me as I was flipping channels . She asked, "What's on TV?" I said, "Lots of dust." And then the fight started... ______________________________ __ My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, "I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 165 in about 2 seconds." I bought her a bathroom scale. And then the fight started...... ______________________________ After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for benefits. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's License to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left it at home. I told the woman I would have to go home and come back later. The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver chest hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application. When I got home, I told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office. She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability too.' And then the fight started... ______________________________ __ My wife was standing naked, looking in the bedroom mirror. She was not happy with what she saw and said to me, "I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.' I replied, "Your eyesight's damn near perfect." That's when the fight began . . ______________________________ __ I rear-ended a car this morning. . . the start of a really bad day! The driver got out of the other car, and he was a DWARF!! He looked up at me and said 'I am NOT Happy!' So I said, 'Well, which one ARE you then?' That's how the fight started

Florida is not going full libtard. The media want us to believe that so we just give up. It is part of their propaganda campaign (just like annoy jane from nam). This garbage is coming from Miami, part of libtard land, just like those pockets in every state. It's just this tantrum is a bit louder, just noise. Stay focused! we already have a 3-day wait for handguns, but it's waived if you have a cwl .

Valid question and indeed the reason I think the age limit will fall prey to "common sense" bleating's. But I fully believe that if we don't get something meaningfull for the further restrictions, then we have actually lost. It will be proof positive that its all about restriction, not compromise.
  18. 2 points
That's the issue. I will gladly trade age limit of to buy firearms to 21 in exchange for 21 year age limit to vote. Otherwise no deal. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

I reject banning bump stocks because that ideology accepts that banning an inanimate object has an effect on the problem. With that being said, politics being what they are, I will accept some losses of derp items to gain real ones. One other consideration. Consider for a moment the executive order for an assault weapons ban that would already be in place if Hillary won.
  20. 2 points
You have to stop going to IDPA and enter some USPSA events. Then you will see how fast mag changes are and how worthless restrictions are. And you need to review the definition of "common sense ". It's common sense that since more people are killed by drunk drivers that bars should limit drinks sold, or maybe beers should be limited to 3 ounces
  21. 2 points
I completely disagree and you also don't fully understand the Second Amendment. "A well regulated militia, being necessary for the security of a free state." Is a pre-amble or statement of fact. 'The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." That is the right. It is an individual right. It has nothing to do with the militia. In fact the Second Amendment states A Militia. Meaning any militia and not a militia of the state. Now as far as bump stocks go. Yes they are a novelty, but since the Hughes Amendment has Unconstitutionally infringed on our Second Amendment Rights they have a place. Their place is to mimic full auto. Full Auto is used in defense as suppression fire. Until the Hughes Amendment is overturned bump stocks should remain. Lastly magazine capacity helps in the defense of tyranny. They are not 100% necessary, but they help to even the playing field. As stated it takes an extra 3 seconds to change each magazine. In 6 minutes 150 rounds would have been fired with 10 round or 30 round magazines. In 6 minutes one could get off 150 rounds accurately with a Lee Enfield No4 bolt action rifle using a 10 round magazine and reloading with 5 round stripper clips. That's 25 rounds per minute. The record is 36 rounds in a minute into a 12" target at 300 yds. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

I disagree. Completely. A mag restriction is a complete straw man argument and simply deflects from the real problem. It was reported that he FL shooter fired over 150 rounds. Do you think that rampage would be more or less if he had to switch mags 5 times (30 rd mag), 10 times (15rd) or 15 times (10rd)? There was a video that showed that even with an inexperienced shooter the difference between all three was only 3 seconds total. Also, for actual defensive use, another study showed that in the heat of moment even PD miss their shots a significant amount of time.. upwards of 60%. And even when they hit, most shots are not able to instantly stop an attacker. If I’m ever in a home defense scenario, I want as many rounds as possible. Especially if I may need every round to defend myself.

These 20+ year old kids are the generation being raised with rubber mats under their playground equipment instead of dirt, never got in a fight, being taught that everything should be fair, every game ends in a tie, and everyone gets a participation trophy just for showing up. They are not raised learning how to work with their hands, aren't taught that shooting is a skill and a gun is a tool that you have to handle responsibly, so they play video games and get this fantasy idea that guns give you magical powers and they can't wait to turn 21 to buy one and shoot everyone who laughed at them and hurt their tender little feelings when they were a kid.
  24. 2 points
Considering how 20+ year old "kids" are tending to delay adulthood longer and longer, is it any wonder that someone would propose raising the age limit for rifles? I'm not trying to defend them or this awful idea, but I think it's obvious that a very large swath of 18-25 year olds in this country aren't mature enough to feed and clothe themselves, let alone own a weapon. This is a symptom of much larger issues with our society, but unfortunately the "easy" fix is to go after the freedoms of everyone instead of dealing with the actual problems. With that said, I'll send something. I'd rather we address the actual issues, and the good people don't deserve to have their rights stripped away from them.

I got in on EZ pay life over the summer at $600. $25 per month for the next year or so and they even threw my recent 2 or 3 year membership dues towards it. I've been a member for 10+ years paying the annual or semi-annual rate and figured I couldn't imagine a scenario where I wouldn't be a member. NRA isn't perfect, but it's the biggest hammer we've got. They just need to swing it a bit more and we need to vote out the fudds.

"The eight-year assault on your Second Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end,” Trump told the members of the National Rifle Association, assuring them that they now "have a true friend and champion in the White House." "I will never, ever infringe on the right of the people to keep and bear arms," Trump said. "Never ever." - Donald J Trump, April 28, 2017

Mental health,... what guidance counselors used to be doing. This fl thing is a calamity of errors by the fed, the school, and the sheriffs department. I’d really like to correct those errors before we fix what ain’t broken elsewhere. If it’s 21, then it’s 21 for everything. Military service, driving, drinking, voting, smoking, legal weed, marriage, etc etc

But before we digress into symantics, make sure you understand my position. Changing the age limit will not protect anyone ecept in possibly the narrowest of scenarios. At the same time the current climate is not likely to leave us unscathed. Additionally I believe I have valid concerns for the age group in question. But if I had my way, mental health would receive the reform, not the constitution. But Society is not going to be fixed in 10 minutes flat either. The Lib Dems ruling the roost of social programs for so long is largely to blame for our present situation in my opinion.

    21. Is 21 the magic number? Is that the age restriction that will stop mass shootings? If that's the number that changes everything, then let's do it. And then there is 10. 10rd magazines. Is 10 the magic number? Is that the magazine size that will change everything? Arbitrary numbers that will make no difference, ever.

I can't say I see a reason for bump stocks for defense or a well regulated militia or any of the other common angles that we hold dear under 2A. Freedom at large, sure, but there's lots of stuff we can't buy/do despite freedom. If there were two things that were common sense, it would be (IMHO) bump stocks and mag capacity. It's stupid to vilify SA weapons, but it's realistic that going longer before reloading, and rapidly firing in a more convenient/faster manner, might be less than necessary. At least on mag capacity, im sure some in here would argue that I shouldn't say what they need for defense, and therefore it's held wihin an unrestricted 2A right (or some logic along those lines). And that's your opinion. But there are some effectors that may have a more realistic play in causing damage than, say, bayonet lugs...
