New range in West Paterson/Woodland Park?

Recommended Posts

I think that once you see the building and shoot in our range, you won't ever want to go back to the bullet hole! We are going to be 35 miles out of New York, so we think that you will be pleased with the drive!

well i guess its still not bad from jersey city! if you need electricians let me know seriously i know card holders and they are great great people..

I just want to reiterate what my partner has already addressed in some of the comments on this thread. Like all of you, we are a group of passionate firearms owners and instructors. This process has taken us over 2 years to get to this point. As you know, permits and licensing are not an easy task..as well, the financial side has forced us to start with a reasonable amount of ports, but leaves open an option to expand and double our size once we begin generating cash flow. Like most of you, we find ourselves having to travel all the way to south jersey to shoot at a clean and pleasant range...thus the impetus to want to do this up north and in our backyard. Essex county became too much of a challenge in order to pass local zoning and licensing...Morris county was the most reasonable and is close enough to main arteries like I80, I280 and I287...you will all be very pleased as to the location, the range layout, and most important, the ownership/atmosphere that we plan on delivering at RTSP....Who know's, maybe we should run a contest to see who can guess the exact location before our opening this fall? :) Be well fellow NJ firearms enthusiasts...and be patient...we'll be open before you know it!!

You said Peckerman :sarcastichand:

Parsippany, major highway access, good amount of commercial buildings that could work for this purpose, and Chief Peckerman is progun - although he wouldn't have much to do with zoning, which would be your biggest hurdle in Par-Troy.

Hello all... Your guesses are close, very close! We aren't trying to be mysterious, just careful about announcing the city until things have progressed to the point where a few "concerned citizens" make issues... We will be offering memberships and are looking at a late summer/early fall opening... More to come as things progress, but your guesses on location are very good...

Well, let us know if you need any help from our community here. I live in Morris county and would gladly show support in the face of any "concerned" citizens.

As we saw with usana, the firearms community in nj can make a showing.

Whoa, where have I been! I'll drive the distance since the Bullet Hole is not a comfortable place to shoot. Like Bello has said, I'm an electrician as well so PM me (or him,as we work together) and let us know if you need anything.

Good luck.

I can't blame you, this is the smart move, I've dealt with zoning in several Morris county towns and they can be real SOB's, especially when neighbors catch wind. There's always some busy body that comes out of the woodwork to try to torpedo all your hard work just because they don't like it.

I'm in Parsippany and belong to Shongum and Cherry Ridge but if you guys are so close, I am going to have to drop one and join your range. Or maybe I'll add a third. I am in real estate but I have not heard or seen anything about this range. I bet I have driven by it.

We would love to have you! We are a public range, so you can stop on by once we open and see if you want to be a member... I think you will! :)

This is great news, but one thing to think about is maybe a NJ Gun Forum discount for not only range members but also for none members. Could make meeting up with folks easier also even when there is a sale from person to person it would give another place to take care of that being that it takes care of illegal transfer issue when not at a range or FFL.

I'm guessing Mt. Arlington. They welcome new business… about 35 miles out of NYC... and are currently developing some areas. Anyway, I would love to get on a list for a place to shoot locally. Anywhere in Morris county will be great.

Happy Father's Day to all...in response to the question about discounts etc...we definitely plan on having discounts apply to local pro-gun groups like ANJRPC, and possibly the NJGF...and appreciate all the input and feedback. The plan is to be as pro-active with our client base as possible and look to all of you to help us design the ultimate experience at RTSP...Whether its leagues, competition shooting, group and individual training etc...the feedback we get will drive our decisions on what to offer to the public. So keep the ideas coming, as we plan on working on the day to day operating strategies throughout the summer, prior to our fall opening...be well!

I'm in, live in Parsippany and Cherry Ridge is a bit of a hike to go for just an hour to practice. I keep my membership but literally only head up2-3x a year. I have a new remington, with shells and clays and never shot becuase just too far.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
