I think NJ2AS just got tired of all the negativity they had to endure on this site.

"Can you verify that having previously been denied a NJ handgun carry permit due to lack of justifiable need, in of itself, is not a factor that would prevent approval of future NJ FID card or Pistol Purchase Permit applications?"

This is not aimed at anyone in particular, just a friendly reminder from someone that works in an extremely conservative municipality and is a staunch supporter of the 2A, who is assigned to speak publicly whenever the subject of "Gun Rights" is brought up in my community. Remember folks - NJSP is only the enforcement arm. They don't make the laws. They don't name or define the criteria for assault weapons. They don't write the policies governing permitting, etc... The legislature makes the laws, then the AG/NJDCJ figures out how to implement the laws into practice in a way the NJSC will deem Constitutional*. We finally have a real live person in DSG Bloom that is open to our requests and believes in sharing info with the public. He is a big believer in the 2A. He actually puts stuff in writing via Email! I know for a fact that he has to regularly measure what he wants to say against what he's allowed to say. He knows the system is jacked. Unfortunately he is in no position to fix it directly and he is not going to bad mouth his agency. Having someone like DSG Bloom available to us has been a long time coming. Let's not put him in a bad spot by making him speculate on things he can't control and shouldn't guess about. Making him choose between personally held beliefs and official policy:State law at an event like this is uncomfortable at best, self defeating and career ending at worst. Asking specifics regarding the laws we currently have will yield the best results. Any question that requires speculation on the future - especially with the elections looming - will be hard to answer. *We may not agree with it, but somewhere a judge has deemed our firearm laws acceptable as they currently stand.

I just saw T Bill's question as I was typing... but I'd like to be even more specific and pointed... and hope that you would ask them a multi-part question: Judging from information posted on here about permit waiting times, many of the NJSP barracks are the worst offenders when it comes to missing the 30-day required time limit to issue permits. Clearly, there are MANY issues with the process itself that are antiquated and problematic --- out of date technology such as an older multi-part form that requires a particular type of printer, a centralized process with a ridiculous distribution system for approved permits (whereby barracks "occasionally" send troopers by car to pick them up), etc. Where exactly are you on improving that overall process? What specific steps are being changed/improved? By what date can we expect a new, improved (and legally compliant!) system to be in place? Can we have your verbal assurance, here today, that the improvements will move forward regardless of who becomes governor? (After all, it's the LAW). Does anyone in charge at the NJSP see this for what it is - a terrible public relations problem that erodes the credibility of your agency in the eyes of many of NJ's law-abiding citizens?
  6. 3 points
I guess the question I have for them is what involvement do they have in the P2P and FID process if any, and why does it take the individual barracks so long to process the P2P and FID paperwork.

All the 2A groups in NJ fight amongst themselves. Part of the problem is that a lot of gun owners only care about shooting their shotguns at the trap & skeet range or bolt action rifles on lead sleds. The hunting groups don't care about right to carry, normal capacity magazines, pistol grips, etc. We don't stick together and we're our own worst enemies.

I understand. But, under the circumstances, they might need to toughen their skin and "get over it". They can always open a thread with a line saying they are posting but won't be monitoring the thread -- and simply use it as a place to post updates. I just think they need to be in "recruiting mode" more than ever - and when you're recruiting, sometimes the more difficult sources yield the best rewards. This site, if nothing else, is obviously "geographically desirable" - it is an expanding pool of gun owners - almost entirely in NJ. Sheesh! This seems pretty obvious. When I join, I assume they share these links directly with their members?... if so, maybe I'll just get in the habit of posting them here (if they still aren't). Sometimes it's just easier to shut up and do it yourself. LOL.

Rosey - I agree that it's already been answered "anecdotally" based on the experience of a few, but I'd really like an answer direct from a representative of the NJSP "on the record" - ideally video recorded and put up on youtube. I think seeing that would do more to dispell the fear of getting denied for CCW than hearing anecdotally about "a couple of guys had no problem". I agree that a coordinated "apply to be denied" effort would blow a big hole in NJ's defense the next time they have to testify in a court action about what % of CCW applications are granted.

I can't speak to anyone else's current or upcoming questions, but I can only speak to my own. Your point is well-taken... asking about LAWS that might occur under one prospective governor or another is pretty pointless. However, since you're experienced in this area, would you agree... they're looking for pre-submitted questions because they want an opportunity to first vet the Q&A through the chain of command? any deemed too "prickly" will simply be ignored anyway? (I would assume these speakers are pretty deft at that!) however, those uncomfortable questions might also serve a secondary purpose of letting that police force know where citizen dissatisfactions lie? So why not send in the questions? (Honestly, I assumed they'll take only the least controversial questions...or they'll "soften" the hardball questions ones. That's the M.O. at corporate events anyway... I assume it's the same here). as to my specific questions --- how THEY are (or are not) complying with current laws are perfectly appropriate questions, would you agree? and that their compliance (or timeline for compliance) really should be irrelevant of who's in the Gov's mansion?
  13. 2 points
I agree with you, I posted awhile ago. They go after us first, the rifle and shot gunners don't care, we lose our mag. Capacity and more, then after were gone go after them. Divide and conquer. We all lose. We really need to stick together now not later.

Hi folks! At the New Jersey SAFE Conference this year we will be having the NJ State Police Firearms Unit return. They will have a speaker answer some pre-submitted questions from the stage early in the program and will also have a table where they will engage with attendees individually. As a result, I need some questions to submit to them and the forums here were my best source for questions last time. I'd like to keep the thread focused on the questions for the State Police, if you are interested in more information about the conference, you can reach me at [email protected] or visit the website at njsafecon.net Fire away!

Did everyone see this article already? Potential Gov. Murphy the Turkey wants to place a special tax on guns - NJ2AS has an article about it published in an online gun site. Link: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/08/robert-farago/new-jersey-democratic-gubernatorial-hopeful-phil-murphy-planning-to-tax-firearms/ My thoughts (in no particular order): - I'll reiterate what we already know... If this guy gets in, it will be "no holds barred" against legal gun owners (not illegal gun owners, mind you... they'll be JUST FINE!) - Why oh why does NJ2AS always post on a national website like The Truth About Guns... but NOT here? (I guess this relates to Zeke's earlier question on the same topic). But it's almost starting to tick me off. If you want to reach out and expand your membership base... wouldn't you tap into something called "NEW JERSEY Gun Forums?" rather than posting on out-of-state sites? Why not post to both of those? (Sheesh! I'm almost starting to question their marketing chops. Hope I'm wrong). - That said, as much as this hobby is already killing me on costs (even just the accessories, eyes, ears, mags, etc.) ... I personally intend to grit my teeth, dip into my shrinking bank account, and cough up the bucks to join the few NJ 2A groups. I figure I can afford that... all seem to have reasonable dues. And I can only hope these groups will cooperate amongst each other... and make wise choices. We're going to need all the advocacy we can muster - and some of that needs to come from in-state sources, I think.

I don’t think this could have been said any better and it definitely is about time someone said it. Hopefully, this will go out over EVERY computer in the U.S. and maybe, just maybe, these sports people will get the message of just how ridiculous they are to disrespect our flag, and how little what they do in sports compare to what our great military has done for this country.. NFL protesting the flag - POWERFUL!! Ret. Marine Col. Jeffery Powers wrote to the NFL commissioners the following: Commissioners, I’ve been a season pass holder at Yankee Stadium, Yale Bowl and the Giants Stadium. I missed the ’90-’91 season because I was with a battalion of Marines in Desert Storm. 14 of my wonderful Marines returned home with the American Flag draped across their lifeless bodies. My last conversation with one of them, Sgt. Garrett Mongrella was about how our Giants were going to the Super Bowl. He never got to see it. Many friends, Marines, and Special Forces Soldiers who worked with or for me through the years returned home with the American Flag draped over their coffins. Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes who never did anything in their lives but play a game, disrespect what brave Americans fought and died for. They are essentially spitting in the faces and on the graves of real men, men who have actually done something for this country besides playing with a ball and believing they’re something special! They’re not! My Marines and Soldiers were! You are complicit in this! You’ll fine players for large and small infractions but you lack the moral courage and respect for our nation and the fallen to put an immediate stop to this. Yes, I know, it’s their 1st Amendment right to behave in such a despicable manner. What would happen if they came out and disrespected you or the refs publicly? I observed a player getting a personal foul for twerking in the end zone after scoring. I guess that’s much worse than disrespecting the flag and our National Anthem. Hmmmmm, isn’t it his 1st Amendment right to express himself like an idiot in the end zone? Why is taunting not allowed yet taunting America is OK? You fine players for wearing 9-11 commemorative shoes yet you allow scum on the sidelines to sit, kneel or pump their pathetic fist in the air. They are so deprived with their multi-million dollar contracts for playing a freaking game! You condone it all by your refusal to act. You’re just as bad and disgusting as they are. I hope Americans boycott any sponsor who supports that rabble you call the NFL. I hope they turn off the TV when any team that allowed this disrespect to occur, without consequence, on the sidelines. I applaud those who have not. These players should be fined and never play football again on any team. Legends and heroes do NOT wear shoulder pads. They wear body armor and carry rifles They make minimum wage and spend months and years away from their families. They don’t do it for an hour on Sunday. They do it 24/7 often with lead, not footballs, coming in their direction. They watch their brothers carted off in pieces not on a gurney to get their knee iced. They don’t even have ice! Many don’t have legs or arms. Some wear blue and risk their lives daily on the streets of America. They wear fire helmets and go upstairs into the fire rather than down to safety. On 9-11, hundreds vanished. They are the heroes. I hope that your high paid protesting pretty boys and you look in that mirror when you shave tomorrow and see what you really are, legends in your own minds. You need to hit the road and take those worms with you! Time to change the channel. Powers originally sent his letter to former Florida congressman Allen West. West then posted the letter on his news website. As of last week, at least 18 NFL player had protested the anthem by either kneeling during the anthem or raising their fists, according to USA Today Sports. If you agree with what he said please pass this on.

"Gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy has pledged in his campaign that "All gun sales should be subject to a tax that will fund law enforcement, drug treatment centers, and mental health services." Has the NJSP advised Mr. Murphy or his campaign on any aspect of this proposed tax?" "Gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy has pledged in his campaign that he "...would require individuals to register their firearms kept in the state." Can you speculate on how a mandatory registration system for all firearms kept in NJ would be implemented and enforced?"

Didn't mean to "stray", merely to "hash-out", which is what a forum is used for. Keep in mind EVERYONE, that there are SOME questions better left UNASKED.... We don't want to give the other side ammo and/or ideas of how to SCREW US with more insane restrictions. Carefully crafted questions, written succinctly like Peel's, is what we're aiming for.

Similar here. With Murphdoom(catchy phrase, btw) and approaching retirement in mind, I have just ordered a new rifle and applied for three more P2Ps. Basically accelerating all my future planned purchases of firearms and associated accessories and supplies. Getting it all out of the way now as I may not be able to afford these purchases later.

this is exactly why I went on a spree and picked up a new rifle, shottie and a pistol all within the past month before the murphdoom. will be looking into joining up some orgs, dont have much hope but at least I'll know I did more than sit on my keyboard.

I don't know what the problem is - but I am pretty sure that a "dirty barrel" - it can't be that dirty after only a few weeks of ownership - won't create a 6" change in POI. I have thousands of rounds through my Glocks. I have never done more than run a boresnake through the barrel and I have never seen an overnight change in accuracy as what is being reported. First guess is something is wrong with the sights. Second guess is Ammo related. Third is something happened to the barrel. Fourth is user error. You are doing something a little bit different. The truth is probably a combination of all four. What ammo where you using each time? Did the barrel or gun get dropped? Is the crown undamaged?

Since re-invigorating my interest in firearms and 2A four years ago, I have joined and been routinely donating to NRA(Patriot Life member), SAF, ANJRPC, and NJ2AS. I view them, for the most part, as organizations whose missions complement each other in the overall fight for our rights. While listening to Dave on the G4H podcast on Sunday, I also joined CNJFO.

3 things I can think of are: 1. clean the barrel with lead and copper remover, maybe you have some buildup in there. It doesn't take a lot to screw up the accuracy. 2. Check this make sure the sights are tight. I know they are fixed sights but if the front is wobbly or something it might be throwing you off. 3. Try some different ammo. I have had different ammo shoot crazy high or low, depending on the batch, especially with cheaper ammo or bought reloads. Could also be a brand/type of ammo thing. I was shooting polycase interceptors last night and they shot 4" lower then Herters FMJ at 25 yards. I've only shot an XDm so maybe others with more experience with that particular model will have more ideas. Good luck with it. -Jim

We're not fighting with anybody! Quite the contrary, as we've been the voice of reason calling for unity & communication so as to enable the biggest bang for the buck. The Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners is constantly reaching-out to hunters multiple times a year. We run hunting events as a way of bringing the hunter & the 2A Patriot together. We're the ONLY group that does that. We educate the public. We make appearances on Gun For Hire Radio (yesterday's Show #325 the latest example). Our membership meetings are open to the public (next one is at RTSP on Wednesday 9-13-17 at 7pm). We're also the only 2A group besides ANJR&PC to be at every NJSAFE Convention (this year's is at Princeton Marriott at Forrestal on Saturday 9-23-17). We're also the only active 2A group on the forum. Oh, and did I mention we're having an OPEN-TO-THE-PUBLIC Family Picnic this coming Sunday August 27th at Medwick Park in Carteret, NJ? $20 pp, kids 5-11 $10, and 4 & under are FREE! DJ entertainment, Shaneen Allen speaking on her work in DC on National Reciprocity (HR 38), Sean Fisher doing a "Get Out SAFE" program, games, raffles, prizes, and a silent auction for Pew Pew Plates static steel (a vendor on THIS FORUM) and so much more! Tickets can be purchased here: http://www.cnjfo.com/event-2501339 . Have an idea? Want to join or run a committee? We're all ears! Let's work TOGETHER to make NJ a better, safer place to live & work. If I protested at my employer, and my employer did nothing, it's fair to believe my employer endorsed what I was doing. I fully support the right of these assholes to protest ON THEIR OWN TIME. At a game they're on the NFL's time - their employer. That the NFL and the teams allows it is a show of support. Others have already given examples of behavior the NFL won't tolerate. Why those and not this? The right to protest is absolute, but it doesn't mean you won't face any consequences of that protest. Without football these clowns would be nothing. If they hate the US so much let them go play it anywhere else. Lotsa luck...

Tried the Aimpoint 3x magnifier in a LaRue FTS mount for quite some time. Had it behind an Aimpoint M4, a couple of T1s (2 and 4moa versions) and some PROs. Took multiple multi-day classes with it. I just couldn't warm up to it and ended up trading it for a Trijicon RMR. It was heavy, gave the rifle a weird balance when flipped to side, hung up on stuff, I was measurably slower inside 100 yards. Zeke, just get a PRO and call it a day. Unless you are planning on regularly shooting people over 100 yards away or doing a lot of benchrest type shooting, you will be much better served with an Aimpoint and a pair of 8x binoculars. Spend the money you would have spent on the magnifier and buy ammo and take a class. You will get better results at all distances. If you think you absolutely have to have a magnified optic, get a 1-6 variable powered scope. Vortex Strike Eagle is hard to beat for the $$.

May be its Detective Dave, Prosecutor Pete, Judge Judy and Jury James, all in the room looking at the person claiming the ridiculous "domicile". :-) Point is, people with much bigger things at stake than couple of firearms try creative ways to claim domicile / residence. Some get away and some get caught. Some are so silly, they might as well skip the real legal system and just go in front of JJ.
