9 pointsThere is no need to register that firearm. If you inheritied legally, the firearm is NJ compliant and you are not a prohibited person you need to do nothing.
-
4 pointsBad blow to the Taylor Ham folks....I sent it to Peel so she can hammer them with emails...
-
3 points^This is correct. If the guns were willed to you there is no registration or paperwork needed. The executor of the will just hands them over. No paperwork or permits needed. Personna non grata is also correct (he posted his response while I was typing this)
-
3 pointsNo. But it is a good excuse to sell some overpriced range ammo none the less.
-
2 pointsYou thinking what I’m thinking? Not saying I get paranoid about low posters first posts being about gun laws. There I didn’t say it.
-
2 pointsDon’t store it in the holster. Get a gun sock. As @GRIZ said don’t refinish. I’d oil and rub any corrosion though.
-
2 pointsDon't think of refinishing it. Original finish is much more valuable than a bright blue or new parkerizing.
-
2 pointsnever register anything VOLUNTARILY - do not look to read more into this other than what @Rob0115 and @GRIZ and others has stated - he is 100% correct IMO. I will not be in NJ - but if I died tomorrow my entire collection can be inherited by my wife via will. Pics of the WW11 45 is REQUIRED IN ANOTHER THREAD !!!!

-
1 pointHello! Here is a photo I currently have of the pistol, I have several more but it seems I can only upload one to the thread, so here it is
-
1 pointgeezz tahts cheap, anywhere around north nj i can get a hand on one of those?
-
1 pointI’ve tried the bolt and dedicated upper (Ciener/Kuehl) which is basically the same design everyone uses. After so many rounds, the fouling from the 22lr rounds causes my set-up to be a jam-o-matic. I would stick with dedicated 15-22 given the price differential.
-
1 pointThis is the best option I have found: https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/mp-15-22-sport Great little gun. Runs well on any full power 40gr copper jacket ammo.
-
1 pointNo need to guess. The Internet is your friend. Colt Firearm Database You will find Griz is right. Sub-200K is WWI vintage, and possibly pre-WWI.
-
1 pointThis photo has been cropped down from the original so I can show it here, the serial number is visible but too blurry to make out anything more than the last 4 digits
-
1 pointI’ll post the few photos of it that I have to another forum shortly, and maybe later tonight or this weekend I’ll take it out for pics. From what I recall it’s serial number was in the 200,000’s and when checking the date of manufacture I believe it was in 1917 ~ Originally thought it was from 1912 so unless I have the serial number wrong the gun was made toward the later years of WWI

1 pointThere are 1000s of handguns people purchased legally in other states and moved to o NJ. Most of these guns are not registered. If you sell a gun like that it doesn't raise any eyebrows with NJSP. If you sell 4 or 5 at one time it might.
-
1 pointthere is no requirement for you to register your nj legal firearms. none. as others have said.....don't do it.
-
1 pointSee GunsnFreedom's answer. 100% correct. NJ doesn't recognize any firearm as antique as Federal and most state laws do. An original matchlock from the 1500s is treated like a new AR as far as NJ is concerned. If it makes you feel better keep a copy of the will with the firearms but that is not necessary. It is up to the police to prove you possess these guns illegally not your job to prove you possess them legally. Follow the transport laws. About 18 months ago the NJ AG clarified reasonable deviation. You can stop for gas, use the bathroom, eat, pick up and discharge passengers and other reasonable deviations. Get your FPID so you can purchase ammo and you can ride around with an unloaded long gun in your trunk.
-
1 pointI don’t believe wife even needs to be willed. Wife gets them automatically as long as qualifies. Anyone else, then a will. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
-
1 pointBTW, it makes no difference if your grandfather lived in another state. Transfer of firearms willed to you (well legal in the state you reside) need no paperwork. This is covered in Federal and NJ law.
-
1 pointIf you REALLY want to register it you can at your local PD, but it isn’t required as @Rob0115 said. Inherited handguns don’t need to be registered and require no pistol permit. You just need to be eligible (not prohibited) to own it. You can go to the range with it, but just be mindful that you must comply with NJSA 2c:39-6, which basically means directly to and from the range with no deviations, cased or locked in trunk, unloaded.

1 point32-20 ammo is hard to find too. Just say'n. It was only hard to find because I'm not familiar with 7.62x39. If I had a rifle in that caliber, I'd know every website from coast to coast that carried it. But, to be fair, I think copper jacket for this ammo is unusual. Rifles are meant to be shot outside, at animals, berms and hillsides. Using ammoseek, I can find steel cased copper jacket all over the place. At .25/rd, it's still a hell of a lot cheaper than range ammo and it does not do any more damage to the backstop than the range ammo will. If a range has a problem with steel core or bi-metal jacket, fine, restrict the bullet. But don't ban steel case with copper jacket solid lead core. RSO's are supposed to be professionals. They should be smart enough to discern if the bullet construction is gtg or not. But basing it solely on the case is BS.
-
1 pointAs someone wise said, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not really after you. Given that bill (now law) was sponsored by our own Three Stooges, anything could be possible. But no worry. The stun gun prohibition was found to be unconstitutional, but it's still in the statute. Maybe some of them think we'll forget. Wouldn't surprise me one little bit.
-
1 pointThe underlined text is what was added by this bill. I believe the section you quoted has always been there (and what was ruled unconstitutional)
-
1 pointGolden Tiger 7.62x39 FMJBT Steel case, copper jacket, solid lead core and noncorrosive. If they won't let you shoot this, then there is no question it's about them selling ammo and making money off of spent brass. 20 cents per round 1000 rd case. http://www.sgammo.com/product/golden-tiger/temporary-sale-1000-round-case-762x39-fmj-bt-golden-tiger-124-grain-russian-amm

1 pointI screw the super bowl every year. Waste of time, energy, and brain cells.
-
1 pointYa, not buying that as an excuse. The bullet construction is on the box. If it's a bi-metal jacket,r has a steel core, it will be indicated on the box. It all boils down to them being lazy and greedy. I have heard some ranges prohibit you from collecting your own brass.

1 pointI was there in the cold, rain and snow for the rally. And I remember at the committee meeting the chairman suggesting that they hold the vote, and then open up the floor for comments. How nice. Then they all could have gone for coffee while we were spilling our guts. If there were enough people in the state who were willing to interrupt their relatively comfortable (if somewhat expensive and restricted) lives to make the point and force Trenton to modify their course, it could be done. And peacefully. If they passed a mag limit below 15 rounds, and 20,000 (or more) people went to Trenton waving 15 round mags in the air, that would clearly demonstrate, among other things, that the law was unenforceable. Yes they could arrest and prosecute a few, but thousands would go untouched. Unless of course Trenton is prepared to prosecute, convict and house 20,000 more criminals in the current system. This is classic Cloward and Piven. Overwhelm the system. Just like the civil rights marches of the 60's. It's effective. They forced progress for their cause. Right now Trenton pays no price for these laws they dream up. That would need to change. Drastically. However I don't believe there's more than a couple hundred people (if that!) in the state willing to make that move and chance being the ones who wind up in jail. And that's not enough. We're just not that uncomfortable. Yet.

1 pointI think this is one of the videos I used when I was building mine. The guy shows you a few neat tricks to make the process easier. I didn't have to use a bunch of fancy tools either. I did buy a small brass and nylon hammer at HF though.
-
1 pointGet the ALG trigger to drop in instead of the one that came with the Lower Parts Kit. Tape around the lower when doing the mag release pin. Get used playing FindTheDetent.
-
1 pointA clear plastic bag to work inside or at least a damn clean area where those %^*$ing parts will be easier to spot if/when they fly. And tape on tools or around strategic locations for less chance of marring. I followed instructions from ARFCOM (I think) and even my first one really only took 30-45 minutes going really slow and paranoid. It feels more intimidating that first time before you do one. After you're done, you question both "why was I so worried about this?", and "why didn't I do this way sooner?" Good luck
