I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you are the kinda guy that does not like to compete in anything you are not good at. Whether this is the case or not, keep this in mind. Whenever you are in a competition, your true opponent is yourself. You may think it's the people you are competing with, the operative word here is "WITH", but the one you are truly competing against is yourself. If one can put their ego aside, and do the necessary things today, the person they become tomorrow will be stronger. That only happens when one challenges themselves.

Agree. I just started last year myself. It’s a ton of fun. You’ll never want to shoot paper again.

A little humor here... Last time the local LEO contacted one of my listed references - my next door neighbor and a retired LEO - he led off with, "Guess who's buying another gun?" Adios, Pizza Bob

That is a false assumption! You do not need to be good to shoot matches... Just need to be SAFE! Most of the local matches are filled with weekend warriors. As long as you are safe, you are more than welcome!

Are you looking for steel challenge match or just looking to shoot steel targets? CJRPC has public steel challenge matches first Sunday of every month.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you(?), I think you're completely wrong on the first statement (boldfaced above). Your point (in the second boldfaced statement) explains why. Sadly, "rabid antigun" sentiment is not such a rarity in this state on the part of employers. Case in point, I recently asked a group of women shooters for a pic to post on facebook - their heads almost exploded. It turns out many of them were teachers and they said quite bluntly there'd be serious blowback from administration if they were seen shooting at a range - a perfectly legal, Constitutionally-protected right. Things are getting CRAZY. There's no reason an officer can't assure the employer's HR rep, "Oh, it's nothing to be concerned about - we run routine background checks as a service for all kinds of things"... and then roll right on with the questions! They should not be revealing that it's for firearms. In this anti-2A environment? That could cause problems for someone's career.

That is fake news. This situation is specifically addressed. See page 4, line 7 of the text of the bill. The bill also exempts transfers between immediate family members and defines what immediate family is. Do not construe this to be any endorsement of the bill. It will have zero effect on crime, protecting the children, or "gun safety".

Ive been too falls a few times. They do have openings there. You need to go there as a guest 4 times and register it in the book. I think one time needs to be for a match. Ive shot my 50 cal there at the 200. No restrictions on that. My only gripe. You can only load 5 rds at a time. And yes. Even on a revolver. They also have an indoor range. They do have some steel set up on the 100 yd. not sure about bringing your own though. If you do the work party your dues go down. I think its only around 160 a year. Its a pretty well hidden range. Ill ask my friend that belongs there about the steel.

Range 14 allows steel at the maximum 200 yds of the range.

One by one, there might be some hope after all that these local Sheriffs will stick with their sworn duty to upholding the constitution from unlawful bills. We certainly need more of them! Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis says he and his deputies “will not comply” if Maryland lawmakers follow through with a long gun licensing and confiscation law. Lewis told Delmarva Now that he believes lawmakers are punishing residents throughout the state for the out-of-control crime in Baltimore. He said, “Law-abiding citizens are repeatedly being penalized because of Baltimore City’s inability to control their crime. And I’m sorry — I’m not someone’s puppet. I’m going to stand up for what I think is unjust and unconstitutional to the American people, including those living in the state in Maryland.” He added, “We’re gonna let them know that we are sick and tired of being penalized for Baltimore City’s inability to control crime. If these bills pass, we will not comply.” Police One reports that Maryland’s House Bill 786 “would regulate shotguns and hunting rifles similarly to handguns.” It would do this by creating a license for long gun ownership and requiring universal background checks on long gun sales/purchases. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/02/28/maryland-sheriff-gun-confiscation-bill-we-will-not-comply/ If you see this guy wandering around in Maryland, please go buy him a doughnut!

As someone else said I can't see what difference it makes if you're employed or not or who your employer is. The blocks probably doesn't belong on the application but it is. The STS033 (Application for FPID or P2P) asks for name of employer, address and phone number in block 12 and occupation in block 13. That's the same information they ask for your references. Now try to submit that application leaving those blocks blank. You'll be told to fill them out. You can probably leave 12 blank if you put retired in 13. I've seen some suggest putting self employed even if they're not. That would be a false statement and we'll get into that. Go down to the bottom right of the form where you sign. By signing you attest to the fact all information on the application are complete, true, and correct. Below the signature line you are advised that falsification of the form is a third degree crime. That's the same as burglary, aggravated assault, or terroristic threats. You can get 3-5 years for a third degree crime. Now look at the lower left corner of the form where it says reason for disapproval. "E" is falsification of application. If it's on the application and you lie about it you can be denied. So yes, disclosing your employer is a application criteria. Just like anything else on the application it's subject to verification. If you're unemployed that's what you put in block 13.

Great club, great facility for just about everything shooting, rifle, pistol, shotgun, and archery. The shooting venues Steel Challenge, USPSA, IDPA, 3-gun (there are others) are second to none, they will appeal to experienced as well as new shooters....they also have sporting clays, trap, and skeet for the shot gunners. I have not engaged very much with the shotgun sports, but the shooters that I have met who do, seem happy with the club events. I have never seen the facility crowded, and there are always ranges left open for club members while one of the shooting venues is taking place and they are not participating, just out for a day of shooting. Great membership, great leadership, never met a shooter there that I wouldn’t be glad to go out and have a beer with after shooting.

I’m certain the intent of the democrats with these discussions and other gun laws they want to pass have nothing to do with criminal use of firearms. These are targeting law abiding people with the intent to ultimately ban all firearms. Yes, via incrementalism. But a complete ban of citizens to possess any kind of gun is the intent. Frame it in that, and it all makes sense.

Yeah, I have the 250mbps option from Comcast. It was an extra $20/month over their base 100. It’s also what I had under the larger bundle so I figured limit changes and stay there initially. Can always reevaluate and go up/down if needed

Also not a lawyer, but I was under the impression that when you fill out your application and list your references, you are giving the investigating agency implicit permission to contact those references you listed on your behalf specifically to complete your application packet. In any event - who here doesn’t call their references either before applying, or immediately after applying, to let them know you are getting firearm permits to keep a look out and to please return them promptly. I don’t think it’s any secret or surprise to anyone that receives a reference form that it’s coming or that’s it is firearms related. The language you posted above PB is what prevents these documents from being OPRA or FOIA-able once the investigation is complete.

Thanks, that is what I thought. Langhorne is the one I was thinking about. If you go further west you also have York, New Holland and a few others... some long range clubs too. There are also a few PA gun clubs in the Hellertown area and a few around Doylestown.

Does range 14 allow steel? Been a while since there. Also, if in Hamilton area... I believe there are a few clubs in Pa closer than easton.

This discussion reminds me that we need to stick together. I think we lose leverage when we only focus on things that only affect us directly. Shotgunner's not caring about rifle owners or those of us in NJ discounting nationwide restrictions that we Jerseyans already suffer under. Nationwide 10 round limit? Why should I care - we already have that! Background check for every sale? Got that too. They will keep going at us so that it's a death by a thousand cuts. And if the rest of the nation gets as bad as NJ, Governor Gopher will be emboldened to become the "safest" state by imposing a 5 round limit. Reality doesn't matter. You are statistically more likely to die falling out of bed than be killed by a rifle and twice as likely to die from a workplace fall than be killed by a rifle. But sanity has gone out the window.

Agree 100 percent. This is a steady chipping away of 2A rights. Honestly? Though I'm pro-2A, I am actually as (or even MORE) concerned by other trends... like the attacks on free speech, as seen on campuses - through the attempt to define any broad idea that activists don't like as "hate speech." Campuses used to fight FOR free speech, not against it. So, when I look at this "roundtable" - though I'm outraged at the stupidity and ineffectiveness of the proposals themselves, I'm actually more concerned about the lack of representation for MY point of view. Murphy is blatantly ignoring a big chunk of his constituents... we have no "voice" in the halls of this government. That's a problem across the board and that's why he's been able to push through not only stupid gun laws, but frivolous taxes... and why he keeps kowtowing to public unions... because he has no angry voters at his closed, "by invitation only" events. He's acting despicably, like a despot. This is happening too much - not just in NJ, but in the country at-large. It's a definite erosion of individual freedoms - speech, thought, RKBA, religion, privacy - all under a slow-rolling incremental attack from an increasingly dogmatic leftist movement that simply crushes opposing views. Case in point, tennis star Martina Navritalova (an icon of the LGBT movement), was recently THROWN OFF a non-profit board because she dared to challenge the new status quo and had the temerity to say that she believed transgender "women" athletes were "cheating". Off with her head! Not allowed. There is such craziness on the left right now. I can only hope voters see how uber-controlling this is... and that they reflexively pull away from it. The Dems need to tack back towards moderation.

At first, I thought the Dems didn't want law abiding citizens CCWing because too many of their constituents would end up pushing daises as a result of good people defending themselves. But really, what does it matter to the dem party. their constituents will still vote whether they are dead or alive.

I feel the pain. The ONLY thing that keeps me going is the fact that the NRA with us at ANJRPC is fulling funding and gave us their Law firm Cooper & Kirk for the Rogers case and the 10 round mag case and they are already a few hundred k unto it and taking it all they way to the supreme. So lets focus on that. Ant

And the packet came today (7/26). But from what I heard, no pattern with how packets are sent out. Likely do a bunch and send the when they get a large enough pile. No CD with laws and no safety/security info... and two memos saying they were backordered (probably updating the CD). Have a few forms, including Theft/Loss Report (3310.11) and Amended FFL (5300.38). I downloaded most of the forms I likely could consider using, and leave them on my computer. Also have instructions to get the 2014 FFL Reference Guide, which I ordered from the GPO prior to receiving my license (I like having the book in hand, but PDFs are linked on the sheet). Big things was the brown C&R book and the open letter to all FFL 03s.
