fishnut 2,358 Posted October 28, 2016 I'm sorry for your loss. I've been there several times myself and it never gets any easier. For me personally I've found the best way to heal the heartache of a loss is to get another dog to put all my attention into. Not as a replacement but a good distraction. FishNHard 145 Posted October 28, 2016 Thanks all, its funny how you can tell a true pet owner from someone else , They get it, Lizzy was the last of out 9 original pugs who which were all rescues , she was 16 and the one before that was 18 , but as you say even tho it is the worst part I cant not see us never having a dog in our life . s8n 14 Posted October 28, 2016 You Did Me a Kindness When my legs grew too weak to carry me, And my tired eyes could no longer see, When it pained me to struggle for each new breath, When my heart beat weaker, and I drew closer to death, You did me the kindness of letting me go. You didn't make me hang on when I was suffering so. I promise I don't think that you loved me any less, And I love you all the more for your selflessness. You freed my spirit from its body so wracked with pain, And let me run the fields of Heaven, where I'm sure we'll meet again.

JohnnyB 4,325 Posted October 28, 2016 Sorry to hear that FishNHard. I have been there too many times myself. My wife always said "no more dogs!" We would wait a couple months then get another dog and start the whole cycle over again! You should start looking for another dog.

45Doll 5,877 Posted October 29, 2016 My condolences. But recognize that your pain with the loss of a pet confirms that you are a member of the real sentient part of the human race. And that's why we have pets.

voyager9 3,434 Posted October 29, 2016 I'm truly sorry for your loss. We lost both of our dogs within a month of each other last year. It was traumatic and even now still hurts. But that pain does fade... slightly...over time. The good memories don't. And when it's time, you'll know when, you'll be ready to fill the void with another excited bundle of pooping wtf. Purple Patrick 638 Posted October 29, 2016 When we lost our family dog of 18 years my mom claimed never again will a furry animal cross foot in to the house hold. Fast forward 2 years and we now have 2 mangy mutts fighting for all of the attention in the house. It never gets easier but enjoy those furry lovable bastards while you can this signature exceeds the 15 character capacity count

Howard 538 Posted October 29, 2016 I know how hard such a loss can be first hand and wish you and the family the best. The Rainbow Bridge inspired by a Norse legend By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.
