If I had access to his info, I would have done the guy a solid and called him directly to come back to get his piece and let him know its not kosher to conceal carry or transport a firearm in that manner in the PRNJ.

To paraphrase Martin Niemöller: First they came for the 30 round mags, and I did not speak out— Because I didn't use 30 round mags. Then they came for the 15 round mags, and I did not speak out— Because I did not use 15 round mags. Then they came for the 10 round mags, and I did not speak out— Because I didn't use 10 rounders. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Take a moment today to give thanks for the brave men that faced certain death 74 years ago today to keep us all free. Sometimes it may not feel like it, but we are still the greatest Country in this planet.

I wonder what would happen if, assuming the 10 round mag limit passes, some particularly rebellious individuals started planting empty 11+ rd mags (say tiny ones, like for ruger 10-22’s) on legislators, their family and/or friends, and anonymously alerting the police to their possession.

Talk about a NON issue..... Your moving out of state, you have zero need for a njfid card. Move transport your property...when fully established in the new state. Mail said card with letter stating you are no longer a NJ resident and you relinquish your card. Certified mail return receipt requested. Done.

Hmm you are stupid. So first up, military operating on US soil against US citizens. That's a no-no. Insist, and now you have a bunch of no 2A organizations opposed to you. This will be unlikely out the gate, and even if done, lets see what the compliance rate is. You can go shoot your fellow Americans, or sit out the shooting war with a fairly arguable case based on your oath. So it's law enforcement vs. the populace. How much non-compliance do you need? Well if you line up all the sworn officers, you have somewhere around a million and change for a populace of ~250 million adults. Now the cops, while they have their regular job. This involves showing up someplace when called. That's a real bad habit to have in a shooting war. Maybe they decide to dictate terms and kick in the doors. How many? How fast? How many people stay on their side when they are kiciking in the doors of their neighbors? Does it stop at just kicking in the right doors? Probably not. Why is it the leftist mind set thinks when we go into the middle east and enact violence on the population we will breed resistance, but if we do the same here everyone will just fold? That same bullshit cognitive dissonance just permeates their tenets. Cops are racist murderers and jack booted thugs/Cops are the only people who should be armed. We must conserve, recycle, and live like hermits because we don't have the resources on the planet/we can provide plenty for everyone because there's no limit on a government's resources that aren't made up.

I guess that's why the US did so well in Vietnam, huh? I get it. Firearms are just a hobby to you. If the government comes to take them away, you'll just move on to kite flying or whatever strikes your fancy. But plenty of us are those "idiots" you speak of. Firearms ownership and the Second Amendment aren't just a fun past time for us.

Who said NJ does not "recognize" your C&R? By NJ, whom do you mean? Court, NJSP FIU, NJAG? What FFL Handbook are you referencing? Allowed to be armed? Even if you had an FFL01, no rights are given to be armed.

Hope so for his sake Not that I want to wish ill on someone, but no... he should suffer the consequences just the same as us mere civilians. I hate the rules as much as the next person, but them's the rules, and they should be applied equally. Perhaps if a supposed "protected" person were to learn they weren't so protected, they would choose differently when it comes to who makes the rules, and who enforces them.

Although I’ve never heard of this happening, I could believe a cop and/or a prosecutor making the case. After all we’re talking about slimy lawyers.

Bolt is in the fixture. I will indicate it I’m in the next day or two and make some cuts. I may do some “pretty work” to it as well seeing as how pretty it is. Im getting excited. Oddly im back and forth in stock choice. I just like them both a lot. I guess I’ll keep chugging along on the metalwork for now and make that decision when the time comes.

This model Canik has a 5.2 inch barrel which is longer than the 4.9 inch barrel on my Beretta M9A1. so I'm not thinking it's a mid sized gun at all. I own a CZ 75D PCR which is a great gun and more accurate than I am. I've been thinking about picking up something new to use for the steel matches that I'm currently using the Beretta for. Not that the Beretta doesn't perform very well. I wanted something that would perform reasonably well out of the box that I could tweak later if I chose to.. One of the other options I've been considering is the Glock 34 gen 5 (barrel length 5.31). You'll see these on gun broker for a 'buy now' price starting around $725. Personally I didn't care for the stock trigger on these so I felt I would need to replace that to start with. The Canik has a very nice 3 to 4 lbs pull with a reset that I thought was better then the Glock, with a price point at $480. Both guns are marketed as competition with match grade barrels. Both shot accurately for me when I tried them at different times. So given $725 + a new trigger for the Glock and $480 for the Canik with most everything else seeming similar I thought the Canik was worth some consideration. So I thought I'd see if anyone here had a bit more experience with a Canik that could let me know about any downsides I missed by only putting a few rounds though it.

You're talking about the 357. Of course it's louder. Refer to my first post in this thread where I quote you energy figures. The 357 has about 60% more energy. If you're getting that much more energy expect more noise. Using ammo comparable in power to the 9 (125 gr +P 38 special) the revolver is no more louder than the semiautomatic. I still stand by what I said. If you want the best all around handgun get a 4" 357. If you want the best all around 9mm get a Glock 19. JMO

What is it you liked about it? Their hammer fired pistols are based on the CZ design. Not sure about their striker fired. You may want to look at the midsized CZs. The P01 or the PCR are excellant firearms for about $100 - $150 more than you mentioned. They are based on the full sized CZ-75 platform. Most everyone who knows them hold CZs in high regards. "Tack drivers" is a word you'll hear spoken often when they are mentioned. They have a new striker fired , P10c, as others mentioned which I'm not familiar with but i believe has received good reviews.

AT is free at the Delaware Water Gap NRA, just beware of the snakes and bears, or camp at Hickory Run State Park in PA, all kinds of trails there, Boulder Field, and if you take your bikes you can ride the Lehigh Gorge Trail next door. Rafting is available on the Lehigh River but you'll need to check the schedule with vendors.

Thanks, AVB. The main reason I am looking for an O/U is to shoot at Hudson Farm. I have been shooting clays on and off for years but have been using my trusty 870. And of course my 14 year old son wants to shoot as well so at some point I will probably be buying 2 guns.

Two years before D Day in Normandy we were in the battle that marked the point we started winning the war. We stopped Japanese expansion in the Pacific in May 1942 at the Battle of the Coral Sea. This also was the first aircraft carrier battle that marked the end of major naval engagements being decided by battleships duking it out with big guns. Six months after Pearl Harbor and a month after the Coral Sea we started winning WW2 at the Battle of Midway (June 4-7, 1942).

But at what cost? The Alinsky people were willing to go to jail for what they believed in, particularly because the sentences were probably not as severe. I don't know how many of us would be willing to have a felony rap "for the cause.." especially when I seriously doubt "the cause" would take care of us after our time is served (i.e. provide income - since we might not be employable, protect us - since we won't be able to own firearms, support our political candidates - since we won't be able to vote etc. etc. etc.).

@jm1827: I will echo the advice above provided by @Parker, who also provided me with some very informative and valuable insights when I had just started my search for an O/U shotgun several years ago, (as did both @lunker and @Rob0115). Here are several additional links to some web articles on affordable O/U shotguns: https://www.outdoorlife.com/photos/gallery/guns/shotguns/double-guns/2012/11/best-over-under-shotguns-less-1000 https://gundigest.com/reviews/shotguns/affordable-overunder-shotguns https://www.range365.com/top-10-clay-guns For what it is worth, I have been very impressed with the Griffin & Howe Shooting School at Hudson Farm in Andover, NJ. While it is expensive, it really is a first-class operation and their sporting clay set up is like a top-notch golf club, but for shotguns / sporting clays. I have taken a number of sporting clay lessons there, where I was able to "test drive" a number of shotguns from their wide selection. Shooting there in the fall season with the trees leaves changing colors, is a spectacular background in temperate weather conditions, complimenting the very helpful one-on-one instruction that I really benefited from. I have learned much from them. Based on this experience, as well as some here have suggested, I decided to splurge, going beyond my original budget for a shotgun to purchase a high-quality gun and ended up buying a new: Beretta 692 Sporting O/U 12-gauge shotgun (30" barrel). It has a light natural stained Turkish walnut stock and fore end. I am very pleased with this choice. Prior to deciding on this O/U shotgun, I shot some other beautiful, low production, finely crafted shotguns in the same price range but decided that the Beretta fit me the best. While it is an expensive gun I did get what I consider a good deal. I found the lowest price for this O/U online and as a member of RTSP range, after checking with their Beretta Distributor, they agreed to match that price so I could purchase it from them. Here is a link to this model featured on the Beretta web site: http://www.beretta.com/en-us/692/#Main This was an early Christmas present to myself back in 2015. I realized that I would be using this shotgun approximately 80% of the time for sporting clays and 10% for Trap and 10% for Skeet. Most importantly, as determined by others more proficient and knowledgeable about these things than me, I felt that this gun fit me the best, for the most part, of all the others I tried. In the spring of 2016, I took the next step and had my shotgun professionally fitted at G&H/Hudson Farm, as well has taking additional lessons. Yes, it was expensive, more than I had anticipated, but I feel it was well worth it, along with the valuable one-on-one instruction of the important fundamentals that I now practice on my own, as well as enjoying the beautiful natural setting and manicured landscaping of Hudson Farm. The fitting involved going through the process of measurements and shooting at a pattern board, then using some interested almost antique tools and devices, were able to make very precise measurements of what modifications should be made to the gun to result in more accurate shooting. Subsequently, their gunsmith steamed and gently permanently bent my stock slightly, as well as added a 1/4" thick rubber pad to the recoil pad on the butt of the stock. The final result was an immediate noticeable and positive difference in my consistent accuracy of breaking clays. Good luck in whatever you decide to chose and I hope it brings you many satisfying years of shooting.... AVB-AMG
