Sarco, to this day, will gladly put your long gun in a contractor garbage bag and fasten it with a tie-wrap. They call it the "NJ specialty".

The influence Pat had on the small arms training and equipment procurement for the USMC special ops community is astounding. I miss that man every day. Luckily, I have a few reminders:

An old interesting read I thought I’d share. Some interesting tidbits and history of M4/M16A2 I didn’t know. Given that this was written just before 9/11, it’s interesting to see how some parts of small arms have developed (and some haven’t) over the past 18-19 odd years. http://www.forcerecon.com/strongmenarmed3.htm

Patrolling 22 was always a nightmare, traffic constantly drivers weaving in and out like the indiannapolis 500, from right lane cutting all the the way over to left, newbies to that area be careful of drivers not paying attention, at least 5 accidents every shift on the u turns.

The only issue, and this is probably for me and people like @07002er is the traffic on 22 sucks during the afternoon. Especially on weekends and during the holiday seasons.

Thanks for bringing it up. I will take a look however I do not believe there were any attempts.... particularly as most spam is geared towards actual spam and not political messages. In either case, even when registered, members cannot see each other's email addresses as they are all encrypted on back end and not shown. What is possible is that your email was typed somewhere in a message, and someone might have used a screen grabber to capture emails... but it could have been any website and why generally we would not want anyone to write their email in a message that is public.
  24. 1 point
Nothing like that in my email... and I also used my email for the Recall Murphy petition. Soooo... not sure what that means! Maybe you're just "special"...?

I get fundraising calls from the NRA all the time. Mostly from nice ladies. But they are relentless. I am a life member, but when I ask what they are doing in NJ to induce me to give more, I get "NJ is a tough state" I kid you not. Essentially FU but can you send in another 50 bucks? How about 30? How much is Ollie getting paid?

Judges Marie P. Simonelli and Amy O'Connor have twisted words and concepts in order to toe the Progressive line and keep the law abiding gun owners of NJ from carrying for their own protection in blatant disregard to the rulings of the US Supreme Court. May they burn in Judicial Hell, although that would be a redundancy. And now it's on to the NJ Supreme Court.

Media has no interest in reporting incidents like this. They want to portray guns as always evil. The only time they feel compelled to report it is the armed citizen shoots.
  29. 1 point
Yeah. 3 this week. Is this an indication of how little reporting of these incidents there is? Or is there just more of this?

“Given that the justifiable need requirement does not infringe upon a clearly enumerated right, and, even if it did, it has been upheld under traditional judicial scrutiny, our holding in Wheeler should not be disturbed on the basis of Jillard's meritless misunderstanding of Heller. Simply put, Heller precluded untethered subjective judicial inquiries into firearm regulations to determine their constitutionality, not valid subjective case-by-case justifiable need inquiries under constitutional firearm regulations.” So they assume that Jillard doesn’t understand and apply Heller appropriately, via an assumption on justifiable need. They did not provide their objective standrd that defines the basis of their assumptions and faith in defining and employing justifiable need, including the fact that it may be determined on a case by case basis with variable human involvement. What a terrible ruling, and misunderstanding of the statistics and reality of the situation!

I actually enjoyed this so much that I thought I've already called a local range in my area to see if they'd be willing to allow us to do something similar there. The more the merrier right? I have yet to hear back so I plan on calling tomorrow to speak with the event coordinator.

@AVB-AMG CJRPC is a great facility. There are a lot of events there open to the public. USPSA, various long gun events, etc. So if you don’t mind the drive, there are some excuses to return. The people running and participating in the various events there do a very good job welcoming new entrants and getting thrm up to speed on what they need to know. The social shoot at RTSP was fun. I think the talking vs shooting ratio may have been at about 50/50 for me. Unfortunately you and I didn’t get to meet up and talk until the very end. The discussions get heated in the kitty litter box because they’re big issues and the insulation that exists online removes that personal element. Nothing is getting resolved there anyway. No minds are being changed there. It’s a venting forum for the most part. But its good to learn we have a lot of things in common and enjoy getting together. Plus getting to know each other in the real world may lower the temperature in the litter box and help us avoid needing hypertension meds. Looking forward to the next event. I’ll make it a point to find you earlier. Btw..... Are we changing this to the Bi-Annual NJGF shoot.....? Waiting a year for the next one seems too long.

Well, unfortunately I’m a vegan so... haha just breaking balls. That would be horrible! Grew up in Taylor Ham country but since migrating south of NJ’s Mason Dixon line, I’ve become a pork roll guy. Just makes more sense to call it by what it is rather than the brand.

Thanks all. I didn't realize the new law went into effect on the private sales. That takes care of that. A FTF at my FFL would be fine and I could keep the scopes mounted and not have to worry about shipping. Just bring along the empty boxes. OK, I guess I'll take some photos this weekend and put up an add or two on the WTS Forum. Thanks!

If you own or lease the property, no FID is required since it's covered under the EXEMPTIONS! Doesn't have to be a residence. Could be a patch of land surrounding a sink hole. If ya own it, you can patrol it. Laws go all the way back to pre-rev war where land owners had more rights. Guess what, it's STILL THERE, only they don't come straight out & say it! Rosey

It all boils-down to the same 200 people in NJ carrying all of the water for everyone else. Imagine the education campaign 2A groups could employ if it were mandatory to be a member of "XYZ" group in order to earn the right to post here! Read all ya want for FREE, but if ya want to SAY something, well, then it's put-up or shut-up time. Is that reality? Hell NO! That's why my back hurts...too much water. NJ has a million gun owners. If they each paid a dollar, we'd have a MILLION DOLLAR War Chest to fund a PR campaign the likes of which no one has ever seen before! The NRA has stepped-up seriously in NJ. I have seen it first hand. The war on guns is fought daily on many levels, some of which you'll never see or read about because they're behind the scenes OR launched on a social media platform some of you won't participate in. Can they do more? Sure they can. And they will with greater resources as the base expands! Every time I read a Forum Member say they quit the NRA, all I think of is: "Well, here's another guy that just stepped on his own dick" & doesn't know why. Every time I read that someone is moving exclaim, "so why should they bother helping NJ by joining or donating to a NJ 2nd Amendment group?" my blood boils as I'm more aware than most that the evil laws that get invented here don't stay here & if we had more people kick into our PR campaign & outreach we'd change more minds and make a real difference come voting time. Something like 183 programs are sponsored in whole or part by the NRA. We have full-time staff members here. Anyone but me know their names? If not but for a conflict in scheduling, your NRA-ILA Grass Roots representative would have attended the NJGF Shoot at RTSP on the 21st! Yes, I tried to arrange it. We need people to step-up & volunteer to help spread the word. In person. At newly built & well established ranges. Anybody that thinks being a 2A Leader is about doing selfies, is out of touch. It's being HERE with you folks, and there at a scout shooting function, and a hundred other places in-between. Now we return you to your regular programming... Rosey

Nope, I'm right... you're wrong! (LOL). Though in your 2nd paragraph, I think you're kind of agreeing with me. Let me add a few points of clarification: 1) We tend to forget about NJ's unaffiliated voters, but there are many, many people who are not "political hounds" and thus are likely still not "locked into" a particular party line or ideology. NJ has many such voters: https://ivn.us/2013/06/18/independents-exceed-party-registration-in-5-states/ (Article is dated 2013, but I've seen more recent stats that were similar). 2) Studies of American voters at-large show that an awful lot of people who DON'T own a gun are actually not at all close-minded about gun ownership. "Three-in-ten American adults say they currently own a gun, and another 11% say they don’t personally own a gun but live with someone who does. Among those who don’t currently own a gun, about half say they could see themselves owning one in the future." http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2017/06/22/the-demographics-of-gun-ownership/psdt_2017-06-22-guns-01-11/ What does that all mean? That means that, yes, EVEN in states like NJ, there are people that can be swayed with facts about gun ownership. One of my dearest friends is a Bernie-lovin' progressive - but in the middle of her divorce, while moving out into her own place - she suddenly has expressed an interested in shooting with me. Why? Because she's a single woman living alone and she realizes that should would be physically outmatched by an intruder. She's liberal, but she's not stupid! Hell, even the most diehard Progressives like safety and security. It's a basic human desire. We (the NRA, other 2A groups, the 2A community at-large) are making a strategic error when we let that clown, Gov Murphy, for instance, link that recent Trenton fair shooting to "gun violence". That shooter was an ex-con, a gangbanger, who NEVER should have been out on parole. That shooting, first and foremost, was about our broken criminal justice system. We should be pushing back on that manipulative messaging HARD. The overwhelming percentage of gun crimes are committed by ex-felons, half while they're still on parole. People need to be "taught" that through an education campaign. There are hearts and minds to be won, even in NJ - most of ALL in NJ. We should also be pushing back hard on his nonsensical "gun trace" stats too. What do they really show? I sat down one day, spent 20 min looking up city populations and crunched the numbers. The troubled cities in this state, with Democratic-controlled majorities, and soft-on-crime approaches (Newark, Paterson, Irvington, Camden and a few others) make up about 8 percent of the state's population, but are generating nearly 50% of those gun traces, and just OVER 50% of the actual gun crime. He's using those statistics to show that "gun violence" is an "epidemic" all over this state... but that is PATENTLY UNTRUE. There is an epidemic of violence (of all types) in some hardcore neighborhoods in tough cities. But, if all those people politically "on the fence" only hear that one unchallenged argument, what are they going to believe? The NRA needs to be doing broad-based advertising - short, snappy and to the point - that shows exactly where crime is happening, why it's happening, and who's committing it. The fact that we've allowed the anti-gun movement in states like ours to smear legal, law-abiding gun owners and the organizations that represent us as "monsters" with "blood on our hands" - and that we haven't hit back hard with a more compelling argument - is a strategic error of epic proportions.

The topic of this thread sums up my one biggest concern about the leading 2A organizations... and I mean this as constructive criticism: they have done a LOUSY job of winning the hearts and minds of people in liberal bastions. They don't really try. And THAT, I'm convinced, is a terrible mistake in the long run. Because residents of liberal/progressive states who are raised (brainwashed?) to believe, for example, that criminals should be released without bail, but legal gun owners pose a great threat to society (the exact opposite of what crime statistics show) eventually move to other neighboring states after they ruin the states that they're in and take their ideology with them. We see it in the migration of New Jerseyans and New Yorkers to PA, the Carolinas and Florida. And this article shows that Californians are moving in droves to places like Idaho. https://www.businessinsider.com/californians-priced-out-move-to-idaho-2018-10 I mean, Idaho! (Wasn't that touted by preppers as part of the "American Redoubt" - a safe haven for conservative/libertarian thinkers?) Well, guess what? It's being flooded by Californians who left their high-tax state - and now they'll want their dog parks and other silly amenities that jack up taxes... and they'll be supporting all the same anti-2A, pro-illegal immigration, soft on crime, anti-cop B.S. that has all turned California into the batshit-crazy place it is now. They can't seem to grasp that they only re-create the very things they escaped from. The NRA should be running a whole different type of advertising campaign - almost like an ongoing political/educational campaign - short spots on primetime TV that drive viewers back to their website and social media sites. I'm a lifetime member and have given extra small amounts on occasion, but I would kick in regularly if I thought they were on the right damn public relations track. They should be putting 90 percent of their attention on the 10 percent most progressive places in the nation. Radiate the tumor, not the surrounding flesh... or the cancer spreads.

Illegal to possess by average citizens under NJ law. Since NJ also classifies bb/pellet guns as firearms, that also means that air rifles with "suppressors" like the gamo whisper are illegal in NJ as well.

What a novel idea. I think someone here said we need a new group in NJ and to cut ties with ANJRPC and the NRA if they aren't going to do anything radical in NJ. They had 8 years of a GOP governor to do something, but they didn't want to hurt Christie's feelings and risk him turning on us. So there was a 8 year delay of the inevitable and the inevitable came. It's a long play we are told. There is a master plan. Seems it took less than 3 years in Missouri. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If a guy's wife doesn't like to shoot, she's raining on his parade... but if she does like to shoot - @Zeke, @Greenday - then she's commandeering the weaponry - like a bitch - and spending too much on ammo. Complain, complain, complain...you boys are never happy! I'm sure Mrs. Greenday will let him shoot. (That is, assuming he did all his chores that week... ) Greenday, you know you're going to have to get your own gun soon or the guys on here will never let you hear the end of it. LOL.
