Everything would be stopping me from the guns I wanted, if I were still in NJ. Machine guns, SBS, SBR, Suppressors, AR Pistols, and all. Oh, not to mention accessories like collapsible stocks, bayonet lugs, flash hinders, normal capacity mags, and all. But the NJ simple and easy process is okay for your duck gun and revolver. Go back to the 1A forum where people tolerate you Fuckhead.

Cops do not have a duty to act. The cop that stood outside the door of the school in Parkland, Florida and didn't do jack shit as while listening to children getting murdered is a recent example, but there is case law from the SCOTUS that illustrate this very fact. https://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/28/politics/justices-rule-police-do-not-have-a-constitutional-duty-to-protect.html Also see Warren Vs District of Columbia. I see absolutely no justifiable basis to create a special class of citizens who get special preference and special privilege with regards to the rights granted by the 2nd Amendment. I'm not trying to bash cops. I was a cop for 7 years (not in this communist state) and I have been in the military, both active duty and national guard, since 1998. I understand what they do. But unlike most of the sheeple out there, I also understand their limitations. Would most cops act in a life and death moment? yeah, most would. But most get to the scene after the moment has passed. When seconds count, the cops are only minutes away. I'm a realist. We need to be able and ready to defend ourselves. The cops have a difficult, often thankless job. It is primarily reactionary and they have to play by a set of rules that the criminals don't play by.

As you all can imagine, the past three years of getting this store up and running has been a journey for the ages. I appreciate all of you that took the time to come visit the shop and I know that as we progress through the next year, inventory and atmosphere will be doing nothing but grow. I must also admit that it is my own fault for not getting the word out on the forum and to that I apologize to all myfellow forum folks. As Randolph before, my door is always open to any of you that may have any needs, suggestions and or concerns. The staff here in Union is a bit new so we are working through the small stuff to really make this a great shooting experience for all of our dedicated customers. I am most easily contacted at my email: [email protected] and more than welcome contact from any and all of you. I do not easily forget the suggestions that were provided by many of you in the Randolph location and the growing pains were ALL of ours. This Union location will have similar growing pains and as before, I prefer to hear from you first and try and address it than getting off to a bad start with published complaints before a solution has been examined. If I don't do anything or fail to act, WELL, BASH AWAY!! HA HA Thank you again for backing us over the past seven years and I look forward to seeing you at the range.

You're still making the argument that they have turned down other gun cases as reason for them being scared or unwilling to take the case. In order for a case to be heard, 4 out of 9 justices need to grant petition for certiorari . Let's be realistic... If you are a progun judge and you feel the makeup of the court will not rule in your preferred ruling...you decline it. Not all gun cases are the same as even progun judges have different opinions on the scope of the second amendment. So while we may have had 5-4 for Heller, not all 5 may have all agreed on an assault weapons ban or concealed carry. I'm also sure in reality if you were a judge you would come to get to know your co-workers and know how they may vote on a particular case. Imagine if they took the case as you wished, knowing they didn't have the votes. You're making statements about them never taking up gun cases based purely on pessimistic conjecture.

Since we had a lot of heroic posting on here as of late, I’m gritting my teeth and doing this post on Safari. Hopefully, you all can take notice of my selfless sacrifice. But seriously, I was planning on going to Oaks this week. Went today, as I work tomorrow and now have another funeral to go to on Sunday. Originally, I wanted to buy a gun that capt14k put up on MeWe... but seems I’m not too lucky when you put Powerball into the mix. So, walking in looking for either a Makarov or a CZ-52. Show wasn’t too bad, but for as much good as I saw (fair pricing), there was just as much bad (no reach around). Saw zero Russian or East German Makarovs... actually only one I saw was Polish. Saw one CZ-52... but grips looked like crap. Think it was $375, with extra magazine, holster, and rod. I noted where it was, but didn’t have a reason to go back Saw a nice amount of revolvers that interested me, as well as a few Colt 1903s... but still was meh on them all. I’m also very meh on the .32. But being I do like history, and pocket guns... I saw quite a few of another type that would also let me keep some extra cash in my pocket. Colt 1908... .25, made in 1937. The wood grips really caught my eye. They were all priced between $400 and $500, with a beautiful nickel plated one for $1,050. Got this one for $425... mainly because it was well taken care of mechanically. Shy of character on the slide (likely from carry/sweat), it isn’t bad for an 81 year old gun. So, I have to admit... NJ sucks! Having the FFL-03 was easier than it used to be doing a private long gun transfer. Talk to the seller, “do you have any issue selling to a FFL-03?” Nope, he is one, as well. Sign a copy of my license, hand to him... he gives me one of his. He writes up a receipt, I pay, we BS for a few... I walk away. No month(s) wait on a pistol permit, no waiting the 30 days between purchases, no coordination of shipping so it arrives at the FFL nearish to the month countdown. Come home, put it in my book... and done. Should have got this thing years ago. Pulled out the LCP when I was taking the pictures... and wow! Browning really got the jump on Ruger/Kel-Tec by almost a century. Granted, I trust .380 more than .25... but people carried those for years In the end, I feel like I beat the man... and his overbite. Was my first C&R purchase on the license, so likely going to be a gun that I keep for some time. Do feel like a hero, though. This Safari stuff sucks the big one.

All three countries you mentioned above are, by definition in the below links, constitutional monarchies. All three have socialist tendencies but are not socialist governments. Sweden falls into the same category. When you have a government that says who gets what, how much, and at what price, that would be the mark of a socialist government. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_Canada https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_Australia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_of_the_United_Kingdom

Love ya Griz, but it's the 19th (Women's Sufferage) AMENDMENT XIX The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

On Duty I had to act, as a citizen you do not have to act. Off duty I only had to act if I did not put my family or myself in danger. But as when I training the County Prosecutor told us flat, if there is shooting and you do not do something, on or off duty...I will have your badge and more. Most of us, will always take action. Many of us will go the extra mile, my oath did not expire after I retired.

I bought a 17 and 19 RTF frame when they had them for 79 bucks each stripped. I just ordered the 34 complete (no stripped option) because I had a spare Zev upper for it that I wanted to use.
  14. 2 points
I sincerely hope you are not finishing that lower within the confines of NJ. I had two of them and replaced them with factory frames from Big Texas Outdoors, @High Exposure recommendation. Just ordered a G3 34 lower cause I have a Zev slide that I can finish off now.

Yes. As frustrating as any attempt to strip away 2nd amendment rights is, i find this to be the worst, in regards to the recent bills signed into law by Murphy. I have heard many stories about how difficult and expensive it can be to get firrarms back. Even Pennsylvania had a law passed recently related to domestic violence issues, not as bad as the jersey laws, but still another chip off of rights.

5 acres , log home on a mountain a couple of miles from down town Jim Thorpe . Local rod & gun club $15 per year. Some shopping 8 miles away ( Wal-Mart , Lowe's ). Allentown for Costco ect. 20 miles away. I see deer every day and more bear than I like but all in all it is wonderful ! Brick NJ 90,000 people , here 4500. Two traffic lights in town . Life is very different. We love it.

yes he is. He posted a wildly inaccurate article and made the following comment upon it: My comment to his thread was: I'm pretty disappointed someone who ran for office is this uninformed about the magazine ban. 30 and 17 round magazines haven't been legal since around 1990. We've been limited to 15 ever since. Stop grandstanding on things you know nothing about. It makes you look bad. Your fear mongering article also does not quote the NJSP quote one day later where they say they will not be going door to door. That extreme liberty was taken by brietbart when the NJSP said no comment and suddenly a fake news article about door to door searches came out. You have a platform, be better than this if you are going to use it.

When my wife and I moved to Carbon County Pa it took 15 minutes to get our CCW. I already had the paper work filled out to save time. $20 for 5 years. It was easier to get our CCWs than change over our drivers license. As far as concealed carry I use an Alien in the waistband , a Blackhawk on my right hip and I recently picked up a Galco Miami Classic shoulder system. Good luck to all Dave

With the onslaught of negativity riled up by this 10-round magazine cap, I thought it might be good to harness that energy into something positive. So, would you join me in stating your 2019 pro-2A New Year's resolutions? Here's mine - I'm putting them in writing so that I'm accountable - and I intend to report back on my progress: I've been trying to distribute CNJFO pamphlets at various FFLs in Hunterdon/Somerset/Warren and nearby PA ranges. I'm lagging on that badly due to some pressing family issues I had the last couple of months, but I'm going to knock out the rest of the list in January and then keep them supplied year-round. You can all piss and moan about our state's 2A orgs, but I think the more people that join any of NJ's 2A orgs the better off we are. It funds education, recruitment, lawsuits and the like. I think they could use people distributing pamphlets in other areas, too - ask @Smokin .50 if you can have a little time to do that and live in a different region than me. I'm going to keep up my current memberships and add 2 more. I'm currently NRA (lifetime), ANJRPC & CNFJO, but I will rejoin The Well-Armed Woman (TWAW) which had lapsed and also join Second Amendment Women (SAW). Last count, TWAW had 4 or 5 chapters in the state, and SAW had 2-3 - they are both growing like gangbusters. More women in the shooting sports is imperative! People, 2A memberships are cheap, there's NO EXCUSE not to join several. I'm going to challenge myself to be an "open 2A advocate" who's transparent about my gun ownership. Right now, I hide it like it's a mortal sin (LOL) - that's going to stop. I will form a habit of inviting people to the range. My goal is to get at least 2 non-gun-owners a month to the range. And I'm going to really focus on recruiting women. I intend to become a regular face at some of these women's events - I figure I can bring my guests to whichever event is closest to THEM and that will make it more likely that they'll attend another time. If someone gets into it, I'll walk them through the FID process, too. I have a couple of pro-2A ideas that I've been noodling on... and noodling on... so I'm going to commit to spending 8 hours a month on pro-2A activities - and that will enable me to get some traction on those, too. What about the rest of you? Remember: what did John Paul Jones say when he was asked to surrender his ship? "I have not yet begun to fight". That's the kind of attitude we need to channel right now! No more apathy... the enemy is at the gate and it's time to get crackin'!

@45Doll If you are in fact referring to the retail store called Wine Library, it is located on Morris Avenue in Springfield, NJ. They have a very good selection of wine and is our "go to" wine store for special wines. Are you thinking of a different wine store in Florham Park? https://winelibrary.com/ Now, other than Costco, I have found that the 14-story chain of Bottle King liquor stores in NJ usually have the best prices on most readily available wine and beer and hard liquor. https://www.bottleking.com/ Back in 2014, my wife and I toured the Champagne region of France, (specifically Reims and Epernay) and visited the Champagne Houses of Moet & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot. For those who may be interested, here is some history that we learned on our tour: Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin was born in 1777, married Francois-Marie Clicquot in 1798 who had a small wine-making business. Unfortunately, he died prematurely in 1804 which made Barbe-Nicole Clicquot a widow at age 27. She was a very strong woman who had a good business sense. With the assistance of her chief Cellar man, she is credited with perfecting the art of remuage (riddling), to clarify the champagne. This is where the champagne bottles are placed in racks at a downward angle towards the cork. The bottles are then rotated a quarter-turn every day for 6-8 weeks to allow the sediment (lees) to settle in the neck of the bottle. At the end of this period, the sediment was removed and a mixture of still wine and sugar added Madam Clicquot was a sly businesswoman. In 1812, the Russian tsar placed an embargo on French bottled wine. She decided to pack champagne bottles into coffee barrels and sent them to Russia. Next, in 1814, she had her company charter a neutral Dutch ship to convey 10,550 bottles to Königsberg, (now called Kaliningrad, Russia), a major port for the Russian market on the Baltic sea, followed by an additional 12,780 bottles a couple of weeks later. She was subsequently awarded the role of being the sole supplier to the Russian royal court that cemented her success. When Madame Clicquot died in 1866, their sales had reached 750,000 bottles a year. Even back then, her peers recognized her formidable contributions, and referred to her as the Grande Dame of Champagne. The tour was fascinating, including descending down about 80-90 ft. below grade into the the maze-like tunnels carved out of the limestone where the ambient air temperature is a constant 55 deg. F., the ideal constant temperature for most wines. Here are some photos from that tour and subsequent tasting afterwards, ( I would love to have that VC refrigerator.....): AVB-AMG

I am a new shooter this year and my son shoots with me as well. I have also taken 5 non-shooters to the range and two of them have also acquired their own firearms this year. They also plan to join the range where I am a member. I will continue taking non-shooters with me and convert more. It's really like hand to hand combat getting one person at a time to protect our rights.

I got a 4" 617 10 shot as a companion to my 625JM and 625PC. its a good gun once you fix all the issues that S&W quality control missed. If you get a new one make sure to bring a bore light with you and check it out thoroughly. some things you will not find out untill you shoot it. If you order a new one ask the dealer to get 5 and pick the best one. not sure if dealers do this. first thing to check, make sure the forcing cone is correct and that even is one, Than check the barrel to frame alignment. bring a steel straight edge for this. if it passes all visual checks than check for lead spitting and empty ejecting, The following are the tools I purchased from brownells to make mine a fun shooter. 11 degree forcing cone cutter and polishing tool. .22 revolver SAMMI chamber reamer power custom ball detent kit for "pumping" in double action. spring kit of your choosing, I opted for the Jerry M kit and use a 12lb rebound spring. apex mass driver hammer to help ignite .22rf power custom extra length firing pin. S&W trigger and hammer shim kit. power custom oversize cylinder stop (be careful fitting this) to remove the slop. oh, and lots of internal polishing to remove the grit from everything. Trigger pull is now a reliable 8lb and fairly smooth. My goal was to try and make this 617 as good as my late 50's K-22, that is what I used as a standard for comparison.

To get my FL resident CWP, and that's calendar days. I could have used my DD214 as the training requirement, but decided to take a class at my local range. Was worth it from a learning the actual law POV. It also confirmed how completely fucked up NJ is after reading all of the Florida law on firearms. Now have to figure out what to get/buy for carry here. The instructor carried a full size M&P 9 in a kydex IWB holster made by a local. But he works in a gun shop full time. What works for hre rest of you?

Thanks. The larger one was on my list (actually, was slightly above this), as well... just not .32. Those early Colts are pretty awesome in the design, especially being Browning’s lead up to the 1911. But the Vest Pocket is just a neat design. It is actually one of the first successful striker fired pistols (need to pull the trigger for takedown, guess Glock shouldn’t get all the bad press for it), and one of the first with those gutter style sights. Was talking to the guy at the show, and while I saw a handful of them out there, they eventually are going to dry up. If you really want one, I’d recommend doing it sooner rather than later. While it is a gun I doubt I’m going to sell, I actually sent a request to Colt for a letter today. It might not be a great collectible, but I do like to know the history behind it Even original magazines are in short supply, and if you want one, $125 to $200. I had the TripleK one pictured, but also came with a two-tone original magazine. Might pick up another TripleK, just for range use. Only downside is now I got to buy .25. Might not be too big of a deal, but I don’t plan of stocking the same amount as my .380. My best friend is thinking about going to one of the next shows to get a 6.5mm Remington 700... might set some more money aside and pick up something else off my list. Maybe that guy with the case of Makarovs will be back... or just look for a nice revolver. Decisions...

@JohnnyB: Ha.... I think many of us had similar experiences in our youth in high school as we experimented and learned just what our tolerance level was for alcohol. Around the same time as your memorable experience, I had a similar experience. I was at a party of a classmate at her parents house and all of us were drinking in excess. That included Cold Duck, Boone's Farm, beer, etc... I at least had enough presence of mind, even in my intoxicated state, to realize that I was in no condition to drive my parent's VW Bug back home. I gave the car keys to a good friend of mine who was "almost' sober so that he could drive us both home. I vaguely remember rolling down the passenger side window and expelling that evenings liquor and other contents of my stomach out of my mouth as we were driving in the cool night air. The next morning, my father entered my bedroom, opened the window shades and presented me with a pail of soapy water and told me that my immediate first job that morning would be to go outside in my hungover state and completely wash and clean the VW Bug since I had created quite the artistic mural on the exterior passenger side. Then of course, I was grounded for a couple of weeks. Ah, the lessons of our youth.... AVB-AMG

The percentage of John Q Public being a target of opportunity, or targeted for any of the multitudes of reasons criminals choose their victims is far higher than the mythical Super crackhead that hunts down the officer that arrested them. Not saying it hasn’t happened or doesn’t happen but definitely not to the degree it’s presented. Perhaps the guys on the job here can chime in on how may times in their careers they’ve had to use their weapons off duty to fend off an attack from a prior arrest/specifically targeted as a result of work and not a random act? Going a step further...since they jump to make exemptions because they feel bad guys thinking leos have or may have a weapon all the time keeps them safe, why don’t they apply their same “if it just saves one life” to EVERYONE’S right to protection?

I think the Rough Rider can be hit or miss. The one I've shot was okay but not as accurate as a Ruger, S&W, or Taurus. People seem to either swear by or swear at the Rough Rider. Less expensive alternatives? The Taurus 22 revolvers I've shot worked well. The triggers were not as good as a S&W or Ruger but not something you couldn't work with. The Charter Pathfinder is okay but I would rate it a bit lower than the Taurus.
