And the lawsuit’s have begun! Stick that mag ban! https://www.anjrpc.org https://cdn.ymaws.com/www.anjrpc.org/resource/resmgr/legal_motions___briefs/anjrpc_v_grewal_nj(p0153639x.pdf

This has already been discussed and beaten to death. There is no magazine registration. The exception is strictly for "firearms" that have a fixed magazine capacity exceeding 10 rounds that cannot be modified, then you must register the firearm. NOT the magazine. If you have 15 round magazines modify them to accept 10 rounds and keep them. Permanently modified is very subjective here. The bottom line is if your magazine is field tested and does not accept more than 10 rounds with no apparent way to modify them to accept more than 10 rounds then keep them you are fine. So everyone is pissed off, so am I. But the bottom line is if just under 60% of the firearm permit holder's in NJ voted in the past election this a-hole would not be governor. Like it or not that's the math. I'm sure everyone on this forum voted, at least I hope so, so you and everyone else is wasting your breath. It's the other 40+ % of the firearm owner's you have to blame for this fiasco. What you should really be worried about is what this governor has up his sleeve next. He plans to make NJ it's own socialist country and to hell with federal laws. He has already proven that. The best everyone can do is keep contributing to the organizations that will sue. I suggest that we petition the "free" towns in this state and have their police chief's declare their towns "Safe Havens" for legal firearm owners and have them refuse to enforce the magazine laws. Let's see him argue that the towns are acting illegally when he is doing the same sh*t with federal laws.

Outstanding. And...Godspeed. One can only hope that one of our anti-2A supremes - preferably the "Notorious RBG" - retires soon, very soon! SCOTUS can't keep denying 2A cases forever... and there does seem to be a will among some of the conservative judges to take a case. Wouldn't it be WONDERFUL, after all the abuse NJ's legal gun owners have taken, if a NJ 2A case made it all the way to a favorable SCOTUS? Dare to dream.

Happy to see this! It’s our last, best chance. Although we still need to be sure governor gopher is thrown out of office after one term.

We do the SAW events, 2A4E events, and many, many more outreach events to get new people in the fold and we school them on CNJFO, ANJRPC, and NRA. I am constantly speaking and pushing the 2A agenda in this forsaken State. Unfortunately you can lead a horse to water......... You all know how that goes. Everyone in NJ should buy someone and NRA and an ANJRPC associate membership as a gift. That will help as well. Ant

THIS is what's wrong with America today. Gimme something free for something I already should be doing. How about these fair weather 2A keyboard commandos reach into their pockets and give the equivalent of a box of ammo to one of the 2A orgs in this state? I don't even care if you give it to that org that I don't like, as long as it's not going to MDA, Starbucks, etc then you're making a positive impact. But I kid because the same people that would take free shit couldn't get off their ass to vote against Phucking Phil.

Glad to see lawsuit filed for the magazine ban. The end of person to person sales while an attack on Second Amendment Rights, if FFL03 is finally recognized by NJ like I believe it is, and I can have C&R firearms shipped directly to my house by a FFL03 in another state once I have my FFL03, then the law benefits me personally. I want this ready yesterday. Where's the guesstimate of costs to prep and file from both organizations, and the link to donate to this in a dedicated manner? Not looking for gun giveaways, not looking for spirited talks. I'm looking for a project plan, staffing plan, and costs. Run this like a program in a successful company. With a sense of urgency and a transparency to ensure traceability and execution.

i'd strongly suggest everyone thinking of selling their mags or butchering them to not do so. this bill is as unconstitutional as they come and will be tossed by any court in the country, including liberal ones. i haven't said much because i actually doubted it would pass. clearly our esteemed legislature are not versed on the constitution. ex post facto laws are specifically prohibited, by name, under article 1 section 10 of our trusty document. ex post facto laws are those which make illegal an act which was legal when committed. if you bought 15 round mags legally, they cannot suddenly become illegal. period. done. end of story. (as an aside, bump stock bans will fall as well). not only is murphy a moron, but he's a greedy moron as well. had he allowed simple grandfathering (like the other states have), it would have been harder to challenge. not impossible mind you, just harder. as it stands, this jackass is going to make the taxpayers pay for something that has no chance of standing. if you have 15rd mags in nj, you'll keep 15 rd mags in nj. take it to the bank. the california ban was supposed to have been in effect as of jan 1. the judge in the most liberal court in the country had to stop it for the same reason the real question for me is where did this attorney general get his law degree? he should be disbarred for giving consent to murphy to sign the bill

If you want to donate, strongly recommend donating money/time/ammo to Tony Simon’s 2A4E events. We desperately need to nurture new shooters and new RKBA advocates from traditionally democratic voting blocks; Tony’s events do exactly that.

How about the "the right to own a firearm is a personal right" applies across all US states and territories, but yet we still have to ask permission to exercise that right. Nj does not follow the law PERIOD.

I don't think he is that stupid. My guess is that Moms-Against-Guns told Murphy to DO SOMETHING and so Murphy told Grewal to DO SOMETHING and so he did. He wrote a letter. I have never seen or heard an ad for 80% receivers. Has anyone? It's something that I never even thought I might want or need. (Until today.)
  27. 1 point
I posted it above, it only applies to the constructive intent to build an assault weapon. How you go from an 80% receiver, and applying it as a part to readily construct an Assault weapon is full blown retarded. It is not even a listed part that makes a weapon that of the "assault" type. The ATF has already defined an 80%, it is not a firearm, and is not a part used to construct a firearm. They have made it clear that it must be manufactured in order to become a firearm part.

Eh, 3D printing has already been used to make operational guns... rendering the whole gun control argument even more meaningless. This latest move by the Murphy administration is just more silliness - guaranteed to do SQUAT to prevent crime. You know what I'd like to see? Like that (terrific!) guy from Freehold who showed up at one of the Governor's event and angrily challenged him on raising taxes, it would be great seeing voters doing that regarding gun laws (and, frankly, a whole host of other issues) - challenging him with facts and figures as he sputters. Because I've noticed that Murphy is stealthily sticking to the venues where people in the audience buy into his rhetoric - he's put himself in a nice little echo chamber - where everyone's smiling and agreeing with him - which makes for nice photo opps. It would make the rest of the dems nervous if, instead, at every meeting he held there were angry voters complaining about his policies and pointing out the sheer stupidity of them with unassailable facts. This jerk needs some pushback!

It's smoke and mirrors. They're going after what's already illegal to give the appearance they're doing something. They're generating fears where there aren't any. It gives the appearance that we're all going out and making these ghost guns, when in reality bad guys will still be able to make them. It's the same old story.
  32. 1 point
None. They’re going after the manufacturers for advertising to us to buy ghost guns. Haven’t you seen those billboards on the highways or heard the radio ads? Legalize pot and go after make believe advertising. It’s how we fix the roads and the budget.

I wonder just how many "ghost guns" have been used in crimes here. I'm betting not many.

Only appearing permanent will get you arrested, maybe, or maybe not. Is it really worth losing your rights forever, by appearances of compliance....? Do you want to be the guy or gal modifying magazine that appear but are not permanent when someone gets jammed up and you get pulled into their circus? Everyone will do what they think it right for them, and you can resist, but be smart about it. Think about it. Going to the range.....have a ten round magazine......

I don't get all the surprise, we knew this would happen. I generally bash the NRA also for doing little for NJ, but ANJRPC did a great job with their leadership this time. Jezz, they made it as easy as possible and people are still complaining about them. Not sure how we can blame them when we have enough gun-owners to keep this crap from happening if everyone voted against The-Lefty Gov. Well, the law suits were our only chance anyway, although I hoped for a miracle yesterday, the reality, with mob-rule, the political system we have in Lefty-States, the suits are the only possibility. Keep donating to ANJRPC and specify the "mag-limit" and "shall issue" suits for your funds, this is our only chance. Don't despair, The-Lefty would love you to despair yourself right into inaction.

I went to a gun auction yesterday at Brown Bothers Auction House in Buckingham, PA. This was my second one there and the second time I came away happy - yesterday was more ecstatic, rather than happy. My father bought a Winchester Model 71 in 1956 from a PA state trooper. I always loved that gun and in the late 80's when Browning reissued 71's made by Miroku in Japan, I headed right to my LGS and put my name on the wait list. Money was tight then, but I knew I'd find a way. My folks were visiting for Thanksgiving that year and I told my dad what I'd done. He showed little reaction, but he was never a very demonstrative type guy. Imagine my surprise when at Christmas time, he presented me with his model 71, saying that now I wouldn't have to spend all that money. Probably one of the fondest memories I have of my dad. I should interject here that his 71 wasn't just any old 71, this was a Model 71 Deluxe with a three-digit serial number. I know that there is at least one person on the forum that also has a 71, but for the uninformed, the 71 is the finest lever-action rifle ever made. It was derived from the Model 1886 and was meant to be a gun that was capable of taking any North American game. It was chambered in a new cartridge, the .348 Winchester the mission of which was to replace numerous other cartridges used in Winchester's lever guns back into the black powder era, and to have ballistics comparable to the .30-06. It was/is the only production gun ever chambered in .348. So I was overjoyed to find a Model 71 in the auction listings. This was one of the Miroku 71's but it wasn't until I looked at the picture with the listing that I realized this was a Model 71 High Grade and it was ANIB. These had a silver engraved receiver with some gold inlay and used AAA walnut for the stock. Given the rest of the goods up for auction (a lot of milsurp - but a smattering of everything) I hoped that the crowd would not be the type to go for the embellished Winchester, and that I could "steal it". Though being an auction, it only takes one person that wants it as bad as you to derail your plans. I set a limit for myself and the bidding started. One other guy. We went back & forth in $50 increments. We got to my limit, but I sensed he was slowing (must have been his limit too), so pushed on. I went to $100 over my limit and he raised it by $50 at which time I bowed out. The auctioneer cajoled me, saying how much I'd regret it if I didn't bid one more time - and he was right. I bit the bullet (figuratively, of course) and bid one last time - $200 over my limit. But my opponent stayed silent and I won the gun. I didn't "steal" it but I did get it for $300 to $600 under market, so I was happy. There were some deals to be had there - a 6" Python from 1976 went for $2K. Another gun, on which I had intended to bid, but didn't after I went over limit, went for a bargain $375 - it was an NRA Centennial Winchester Model 94 Musket (I have the rifle). I also bid on a Model 12-2 S&W, 2" barrel round butt (impossible to find), but dropped out when it went too high. At any rate, here are some pics... Butt stock... Original 71 Deluxe and the "new" 71 High Grade (they are the same size - it's just the perspective)... Thanks for reading. Adios, Pizza Bob

Depends on what I'm doing. Bolt action rifle, practicing slow and careful marksmanship? I might use only 50 rounds in an hour. Just plinking with my AR? I could use 300 rounds. Taking my 357 out for a spin? I might only use 25 rounds. Busting clays with my 12 gauge? Somewhere between 100 to 200 shells. I guess it also depends on my mood. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I understand wanting to take a gun apart and see how it works. Regular "detail stripping" is not needed. Even if you have the correct tools and know how to do it eventually some damage will be done. The only time a gun needs to be taken apart is if it's broken. Everytime I've ever taken a gun apart to repair I've always test fired it before that gun would be put back in service. Yes, there are function checks that don't involve live fire shooting. Nothing function checks as well as shooting it though. For that reason alone I would never use that service.
  47. 1 point
Can't argue with that logic. If it's 16 rounds or 30, it's not like you get additional months tacked onto the sentence for each round. After the first illegal round, all the others are FREE!

Cleaning guns is dumb and I hate it but I’m not paying someone else to touch them.
  49. 1 point
WoW! So at $40 per handgun and $55 per long gun, if you had say a small collection of 10. Five rifles and five handguns, that would cost you $475.00. I don't care how much money I had, I would NEVER be that lazy! Besides, I actually enjoy detail cleaning my guns after a range session. It's part of the hobby. The first thing I do when I get a new gun is take it apart, clean, lube and reassemble. It's great fun!
